When did Kid Icarus become a $90 game?

I traded my copy to someone, but I'm not going to buy a new one if they cost this much! The person that got mine got a steal too!

a 9/10 is hard to come by. Is it really that common?
I noted that a nice complete copy of this game can be difficult to find. At the time of me writing this, I count 91 completed auctions for KI (either sold or didn't sell) in the last 15 days, and only 3 with boxes.
I agree with this statement right here. This game is kinda tough to find CIB, and finding a good condition CIB is even harder. I had a CIB in my collection for the longest time with a bad condition box before I was finally able to upgrade to a better copy. Although, I still think $91 is a very high price for this game with a damaged manual.

While I agree that KI box is definetly harder to find than people think, especially in good shape. I must disagree with the manual comments. I currently have over 4,000 manual DOUBLES sorted and indexed ready to start selling/trading when I get back from Denmark. Out of all of those, the hardest manuals for me to find in minty fresh shape are Zelda 1 & 2, Metroid (Silver), and Kid Icarus. I don't know why but these 4, maybe because of the metallic like finish????, seems like 1 in 10 I get in is in decent shape. Is this just me or are people finding the same thing out there?
Could also be popularity vs how common it really is.
Obviously, SMB series is far more popular and thus they would have had a lot more copies, thus it's easier to find minty ones.
Where was Zelda 1 at least, Metroid and Kid Icarus were the start of a new series which they weren't expecting to be popular, thus the majority of the copies were in use rather than sitting in warehouses.
Although, it is 3:17am and I'm talking random stuff out of my ass.

I'd completely agree Eric, Metroid is the easiest of those 4 for me to find nr mint+ but at one point, I had 2 nr mint kid icarus boxes and couldn't find 6+ condition manuals for the longest time to go with them and finding copies of the manual wasn't the issue. Mike Tyson is another oddity manual that is often torn up when I get it
i will gladly take my $10 cib from erik with the missing box top!
Glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble with those 4 books. Oh and Dan, I completely agree on MTPO book being always beat up too. I actually had that typed into my original post but then took it out as it didn't flow with my metalic finished covers statement. I agree though 100% though that these were the books that people read and reread over and over again. I can remember reading Zelda and Metroid dozens of times before I was a member of Nintendo Fun Club and got all the hints etc to make the games easier.
Shipped in a padded envelope and dented the corner of KI.
I had no idea what they were worth at the time.
i just got non-"rev a" cibs of 5-screw track and field & double dribble in the mail shipped in a padded envelope. no damage to anything, but still, what stupid asshole charges $12 for shipping 2 CIBs and puts them in a bubble envelope. he shipped them priority too! why not put it in a free priority box? amazing!
however, i guess i cant argue with the price! $0.01 + $12 shipping!
Not sure the manual, though.
