Have you "whitelisted" their email domain.  Possibly your email account thought they were sending you spam so you never saw the invoice.

I say this because on ALL my submissions, I have gotten an invoice the very next business day after they receive them.

I submitted 7 items last week, and it was picked up from their address according to my tracking on Saturday 8/4, but it wasn't until Thursday 8/9 before I got an invoice. I was under the expectation that it typically takes them a day or two to open it up and process it, so yeah it took maybe a day or two longer than anticipated but it's not the end of the world.

Also, if you're counting Saturdays and Sundays in your "10 days" then you're being a bit unreasonable. They don't work on the weekends.

I had submitted my items for the "custom Premium" tier which is 7-10 business day turnaround, and on my invoice the projected completion date is 8/20, which is 7 business days. We'll see if they meet that date...

Hmm...   Maybe they are just swamped or something.  I haven't submitted for a while, so take my previous post with a grain of salt I guess.

Probably everyone trying to rush their fake prototypes in all at once  (insert laugh here)

  • VGA IS late right now though. Kim explained on the phone they been backed up. There have been some 2-4 day requests that have been there for 1.5 weeks. Just call them n rectify it. It's not the end of the world.
  • I'm new to this site and had a question. I just bought a Zelda II "unopened" off of Craigslist from some guy. It has not plastic over it, but he claimed it was unopened because the top flap has no white crease (which it doesn't). Overall the box looks pristine. I was going to try selling it, but how do I actually prove that it is unopened. And would it even be worth selling on ebay because no one will believe it's unopened?

Would sending it to VGA be my best bet, because then at least it's graded and it has certification of the quality? Just curious what I should do, so that I get the most money when I sell it.

    Thanks
  • If the box looks pristine and you think the insides are unused it's worth trying to get it qualified at VGA. You should probably be able to increase your value but it's the risk your taking to pay and get it qualified. You should take a couple pics and post it here.

Does anyone know how many sealed myriads have been found?
  • May want to make a thread for your question about the Myriads (seems the questions here are going unanswered lately)... I don't know personally but didn't a case of them crop up at some point like the caltrons?

I didn't see a question about Myriad. But I would grade any sealed Myriad.  If someone asked if a used Myriad could be graded, I'm guessing no, but you could contact VGA to find out for sure.

No case of Myriad, that I know of has showed up.  But yeah, some Caltrons flooded the market, but prices are climbing on that now.

  • I have seen about 6-7 Myriads in the last several years---all owned by prominent collectors and in about 80 "ish" condition---definately one of the toughest sealed NES games out there
  • It's been 10 business days since they arrived. 13 days total and still no invoice. I have emailed Kim everyday, and received two responses. One telling me I was missing one game which I replied and said subtract that. nd the next email she said the invoice would be sent out the next day. It's been four days. I realize this isn't a big problem but was just curious if anyone else was having this problem, and venting at how bad their service is. Rivals that of the post office in my opinion. I told her to get me a partial discount, just 5% so we will see. I got 40 some games graded, so that's pretty much two free games graded.

5 to my knowledge (from internet research and talking with Bronty):

    #191 My copy VGA 75+

    image

    #319 Atwoodtm (recently on ebay)

    image

    #519 Dain VGA 70

    image

    #580 ??? (previously Portnoyd's)

    image

#621 burnambill333/Nick Morgan (severely crushed box)

    No Pic

Only 2 are graded, 70 & 75+, but the others are not likely to grade as well.  If anyone has any other Myriad pics or info, please let me know.  Also I have accounted for 38 total copies of Myriad.  I'm sure more will turn up, but this is just to give a population idea.

    Edited Info (Thanks Dain)
  • Thanks man! Much appreciated.
  • Is it worth it VGA'ing:

    Final Fantasy XII Collector's Edition

Grand Theft Auto Collection Collector's Edition

Devil May Cry Collection Collector's Edition
  • If they are mint condition, I would VGA the first two, and skip DMC

Going on 8 business days here too, kind of a joke at this point.  If you're that backed up there should be a statement on the main webpage or partial credits or something.  It's only getting worse with each passing day as more people sub to VGA...

  • So could anyone confirm if it's possible to become a member of their site if you live outside US? On the registration page there is a site with options for different countries but the area in wich you chose a State automatically has one pre-selected and all you can do is swap it for another one...
  • I got one of my invoices, projected completion date, Thursday, lol. Not sure what to expect on that one. But I'll cross my fingers.
  • I tried to do the online form but it gave me a dead link?

I got my copy from Pieter years ago, and I don't think he had 2 copies, so I actually have his AFAIK.

  • Been speaking to Kim for a bit. She apologizes as they're backed up but she said that they're quote, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So assuming your 2-4 day requests will become 2-4 again sometime soon. Or whatever other tier you choose.
  • Yeah they're damn close to caught up. My grades were scheduled to pop on 8/29 and I already got em on Monday. Hasn't shipped yet, but still, way ahead of schedule. Just email Kim and they take care of things.
  • So I am planning my first VGA submission and I'm wondering what the big difference is between the $5.00 grading summary and the $15.00 detailed grading report (had trouble finding any info on their site). Although I plan to keep the game for a while, it's worth good money and I want to have as much information about the grade as possible for both my own use and for the purposes of selling later on down the road. For people who have received both, is it worth the $10 difference?
  • Haha, but aren't they going to another conference? And btw, I have a question. I got an earthbound near mint in the mail, I looked at the cart and it looks brand new, the contacts look mint. I am unsure as to how they can tell if the game is new or not (when grading under qualified). Can someone please let me know? I have another brand new earthbound and the contacts look the same, so I am guessing this one is new, or used maybe a few times. If anyone can help me on this, that would be great, save me $100 if I decide to send it in.

The grading summary is a code and reference sheet with no written description. There is a generic picture representing the game and the grader will circle the areas where flaws were present and mark beside it a respective code.

The detailed grading report basically summarizes the flaws and reasons for the grade. It is a brief and consise written statement.

I've tried both and I don't think I would pay for this extra service again, but for some people it is important.
  • Hey guys, wanted some advice on a Q grade. Never sent anything to VGA before, so bare with me.

I picked up a mint E.V.O today. Like unused mint. Minus one very small dogear and a tiny scuff on the box, I can't find any flaws. I opened it up carefully (the flap was really firm) and the contents are totally unused. Instructions/map, registration card, cart in the plastic, etc. No marks, fingerprints, bends, anything on the instructions or other paperwork.

How does the Qualified scale work? How do they determine that something hasn't been used before? I mean, I have to assume this hasn't been used before, but how can you know for sure? Is the Qualified scale just something you sort of "take a gamble on" and hope for the best?

Ultimately my question is would it be worth sending in. I know it's a tougher game to find and probably the first "unused" SNES game I've had come through my hands. Will the dogear make it not worthwhile?

Here are some mediocre pics of the box:

  • Sometimes it's microscopic so only way to know is by sending it in. If it qualifys awesome but you run the risk of it not qualifying and your down shipping costs to and from. Test your luck because it might just pay off.
  • I have a scenario that I'd like some of the more experienced folks to weigh in on. The overall question is whether or not I should ask for a refund or discount on my next submission. Basically, I am curious whether they took way too long to process my submissions. My submissions were of the following: Custom Size, Premium Tier, Standard Grading Scale ($65 each). (VGA's turnaround time for this tier is 7-10 business days)

    Timeline of events:

8/2 - Shipped via USPS Express

    8/4 - Signed/Received by VGA on Saturday

8/9 - Invoice received, projected completion date: 8/20

    8/20 - E-mailed and asked for status

8/21 - Reply from Chivaun, received grades, but told due to custom casing size it is taking longer and should ship out within a few days

8/24 - E-mailed and asked for shipping tracking

8/27 - Reply from Kim, said they are shipping out tomorrow

So if you count the number of business days (starting with the day they issue the invoice) to the day that it is shipped, my submission took about 14 days. I'll credit them with 1-2 days just to be nice and I knew they were backed up due to Comic Con in early August. That means it still took them 12-13 days for my submissions when I paid for 7-10 days turnaround.

Not sure if I'm splitting hairs here and if I'm sounding like a whiny kid but VGA definitely pushed my patience with my first time submission.
  • Yeah don't split hairs man, especially if you plan to use VGA in the future. I've had them be ahead of schedule and behind schedule. I've learned to touch base a day or two before my submission is ready just to ask on status. Kind of as a reminder "Oh crap I forgot about this guy, let me knock him out on time".

I would think that custom cases are a valid excuse for running behind schedule also.

And definitely wait until they are in hand. I think my first VGA experience was a bit slow but once that VGA game arrived in hand, all was forgiven. Sometimes the communication or shipping can be slow, but grade them on their overall performance and if you are a happy customer. Once they're in hand, I bet you'll be over it.
  • Just wanted to check in with how people who are members feel the service has been.

I sent in my first lot of games to VGA since becoming a Platinum member on 8/21/12. Package arrived the 23rd, no invoice yet. I'm just curious if people who have paid for memberships have noticed a noticeably faster turn around time or not. Would suck to spend $300 and not see a difference in turn around times.

All 5 games are Premium and standard casing, hope they aren't super far ff from 2-4 day turn around.
  • This Q thing has me perplexed. Can I take any one of my unfolded boxes and turn that into a high grade Q score by adding the contents? I have some MINT boxes and when I say MINT I mean MINT.
