The black label games
I remember back in the old days when I would get new games and I always remember seeing those black label games and always avoiding them like the plague as I knew they were such simple games and didn't want them. I always wanted other titles.
Nowadays, I actually have a fair amount of these (not all... yet) and wouldn't mind having a full set of 29 (I'm missing 8). I guess they have a certain charm. It's just funny to think that I have the games I didn't want as a kid. After playing some of them, they definitely aren't all bad games. I played Clu Clu Land last night actually.
Did anyone else have a similar experience or were my opinions my own back in the day?

Btw, there's 30 of them (use the search term "black box" to see all 30). -Dain
Huh. I think I forgot about Wrecking Crew, hence the 29 count. I have it, so I'm still missing 8 after the search. No Gumshoe for me yet and that's one I wanna try to see just how impossible I think it is.

I still need 5 carts, 8 manuals, and 7 boxes to complete a CIB collection of them. I just got a raise yesterday, so maybe I'll be able to start whittling that down again sometime soon.

They are all fun games to play for sure, well, except maybe Stack Up, Gyromite, and Donkey Kong Jr. Math.
You're right about Stack Up sucking, but Gyromite is fun when played properly with ROB, and DKjr Math is pretty good as a 2 player game, although I'm probably the only collector on this board who's bothered trying it 2p.
I also have a complete Black box set CIB, btw. Only problem is that two of the games are -CAN: Duck Hunt and Soccer. They're common though, so I know -USA's will show up eventually.
I actually kind of like certain aspects of Stack-Up, but then again I'm a sucker for Tower of Hanoi type puzzles. Granted this doesn't have the same restrictions and complexity, but I still think it can be fun. I'm not entirely sure the puzzle ever gets all that complex unfortunately, but then again I haven't tried to take it up into the hundreds of phases yet.
The worst is if your ROB's alignment isn't great, and your stack gets knocked over doing what should be a valid move. I have the same problem in Gyromite sometimes where I knock a spinning gyro askew trying to pass the other one over top of it.
