Used 72 pin connectors

So After selling a handful of NES systems on EBay, I've built up a healthy load of used official Nintendo 72 pin connectors.  I've seen some people selling them on Ebay, but the prices are all over the place.  I'm not sure of how well they work, I always just replace them before selling the system.  How much are they worth?  Whats the best way of selling them?  Solo?  Groups of 5?

I think fixed priced auctions are still .25 right now, figured I'd get rid of these in a BIN or two.  Thanks guys!

  • used connectors? i would say they are worthless, but thats just my opinion. who would want a used one?
  • Don`t know of any used, and "referbishment" is a bitch.....
  • Ive got a ton built up also. Dont know what to do with them.
  • I've been fixing up the used connectors lately and haven't had any problems. Only takes about 3 minutes to fix one connector (after removing it from the system of course).

    Just use a little sand paper to get the crud off, then a tiny screw driver to make the pins a bit tighter. Works every time.
  • There's a great way to make them like new again and actually requires very little work.

    * Put them in a pot covered in water

    * Put some dish washer powder in there

    * Boil for 10 minutes

    * Put oven on 75 degrees (Centigrade... should be 170 or so in Farenheit) and place them in there for 10 minutes to dry them out completely.

    * Voilá - They're like new.

    This doesn't hurt the connectors in any way, I've done it many times and a renovated connector is 1000's better than a new ninja grip one. Seems like the heat makes the metall pins bend back to their original position.

    Edit: Degrees.
  • I take ever pin out and bend it into new....But can`t get the inside ones. Anyone know how?

    Looks like I'll be boiling some pin connectors next week!

  • Thanks for the info Widar!
  • Widar, can I use dish washer liquid instead of the powder? I don't have any powder, I use the gel based liquids at my house..

    And thanks for the info... I would have never thought of that, I used to sand the pins with sandpaper but that is a lot of work..
  • You're welcome. Read about this a while ago on nesdb.se, so i can't take credit for it. But it works.

    Pserge, dunno about liquid, should that make to much boubles while boiling? But you could try. image
  • I'll buy a few off any of you if you figure out a reasonable price.. PM me image
  • Hah, I bet in 10 years these will be worth a fortune because everyone threw away their factory original connectors. I'd hang onto yours if I were you image

    Thats good ole' PEDRO!
  • what metal are original 72 pin connectors and/or aftermarket 72 pin connectors made out of ... does it contain any lead?
  • If anyone boils some connectors, please let me know how it went for you since i had great results.
  • Thanks for the tip. I tried this tonight and it worked perfectly the first time. I used liquid dish soap with it.
  • lol...wish I had seen this about a month ago.
  • as a matter of fact, I even asked on here what to do with them and this thread was never mentioned. oh well....
  • ah man I hate it when these old threads come back up and I don't look at the date...I thought buk fitty was back image
  • I got about 60 of them in a box for $16. It's a mix between brand new and slightly used ones. The box has just been sitting in my room for awhile. I've sold a few of them and made a great profit so far. They work great so I'm not ripping anyone off either.
  • Oh hey, actually here are some more detailed instructions from another thread on here:

    I had been planning to try this ever since I saw the thread back in the day, but never got around to it until last night. Looking at the steps, I think the ones from this link I just posted will work better.

    Heh heh, I thought the exact same thing.
  • Ive had success in repairing the old pins. I repaired the old pin in my personal NES system and it still works!
