  • I still need both World Heroes and Shadowrun, but if I get mine and find a second copy I'll pass links around on the forums. World Heroes though will probably be quite expensive.
  • I really like the SNK genesis conversion games like Art of fighting. I always remember playing death match mode and thinkin it was the coolest thing ever. I forgot about that Dane, as my wish list has increased 10 fold as I now have this list of awesome asian variants. Getting Mega 10 multicart would be a good idea and I'll let you know when I get some funds. I have yet to see them but I know whne I do it's gonna give me a good feeling! So I'm guessing that shadowrun has a dual language option like some PAL format games or is the thing just in english?
  • To my knowledge there is nothing special about Asian Version games. Its just English roms put into Japanese-shaped carts. Purely aesthetic.
  • Sorry for reviving an older topic with my first post, but I just stumbled over this topic on my search for further informations on Asian releases.

The box is in Japanese and says Mazin Saga, however it is packaged with the UK Mazin Wars manual. I am also skeptical of "Asian Version" releases of Golden Axe 3. Maybe after I've bought all of the others I'll reconsider buying those 2.

In my opinion Mazin Wars, Golden Axe 3 and Super Shinobi 2 can be considered legit. They all come with this additional warning note over epilepsy in English and Mandarian. The sticker on the backside of the cartridge is in English and identical to that of other Asian releases.

An additional game on the list should be Cadash, because there was also an Asian realease of that.

Btw,  the Japanese releases of Alien Soldier and Light Crusader both run on Asian PAL-consoles, albeit slower because of not being optimized for 50Hz, while having an lockout  for US- and EU/AUS- Hardware. Light Crusader even runs fully in English language.
  • Do you have any pictures of Cadash? It is just an EU/UK release with an Asian cart?

One reason I don't count Mazin Wars, Golden Axe 3, and Super Shinobi 2 is that I think they might have just been "assembled" in Thailand. Adding an Asian Version sticker or slipping in an epilepsy warning to sell it in the domestic market isn't unrealistic, and while the games might be real, I don't think they're Asian releases.

They seem pretty to easy to get a hold of, so if I complete most of the set except for those tiles, I might eventually just pick them up.
  • I've grabbed my camera and made some photos:

I'd wish it was in better condition, but well... It's basically an optical altered US-release in the typical "Asia"-manner (btw, there was no European release of Cadash) with an Taito-type cartridge. From time to time it pops up on ebay or yahoo, but the US version is way more common.
  • Thanks for pointing that out to me. Occasionally it pops up on ebay.de? Which eBay site should I be looking at to find myself a copy?
  • Its been awhile since we've talked about Asian Mega Drive games on here. I'm just gonna bump this topic up, and I'll make some additions to my list above as well

Also, dcdan, any chance of you editing the title of the topic to something like "Asian Mega Drive Releases Discussion Thread" - doesn't matter how you phrase it, but with something like that it might help people pull it up in a google search. I imagine that is how the German guy found the thread and contribued that there was an Asian version of Cadash (which I now own)
