  • Yep, I saw this a few minutes ago. It looks like it's wearing a saggy diaper that leaks. The box, however, looks to be in superb condition for what it is.
  • The wrap doesnt even look shrunk haha!
  • Has one of these been opened up for Wiz's list?
  • BTW, xARSEFACEx, nice deal on the Mario 64s!!!
  • Yeah, I was thinking that this would be an awesome buy just to have a mint copy, but I'm sure it'll get bid up WAY high by people who believe that it's factory sealed. Also, there's no way to verify that all the parts are inside. If it's been unsealed and resealed it could be missing a hand or something.

Fuck, there could be HeMan toys in there for all we know.

This might be a dumb question then...how do you tell if it's factory sealed?  It looks like it could be to me.
  • that is a tough one to answer... my 2 factory sealed copies both have the little black circular nintendo sticker at the top of the box underneath the plastic seal. also, both have the original store price tags on them, so there is no doubt in my mind that my 2 are factory sealed. i forget what the seal looks like on them, but the seal in this auction is just so ugly and loose that there is no way this can be real. i take that back... i guess it can be real, but i have no idea how the seal could get like that!
  • with all that said, this one doesnt have the black nintendo sticker at the top, but that doesnt necessarily mean anything, as that sticker only appears on the earlier releases of the game anyway!

once again, i am looking at the pic of mine, and i cannot figure out how the seal could possibly get so loose. no way its factory sealed, and no way to tell if a skeletor is in there or not, but what we do know is that the box is in very good condition!

    Photobucket
  • show off
  • haha its the only pic i got with the stack up in it... and im still at my apartment, so i cant take more... image
  • Some stackups (rarely) don't have, and never had a black seal. Bronty pointed this out back when he was doing his "factory or not" column I believe.

Also the way it's puckered at the seams - it's a much more heavy duty plastic than was used on original ones. The cello for black-box games incl Stack-up is about as thin as you can get. Leads to all kinds of problems like open corners from wear, and easy scratching/tearing. This is obviously a thicker laminate. More along the lines of what they use in rental shops. That puckering you'll see with a handheld heat-gun.

And that pic of the top shelf is NA-friendly porn - I'm a bit gamerandy just looking at it! image
  • Who uses a show-off pic with a horribly faded BB2? image
  • I sure hope that basement or attic, whatever it is, is climate controlled and doesn't have humidity/ moisture issues Seth!
  • Sweet Collection Seth! I wish i had some nice shelves like that to display my rares like that. I like the way you displayed everything across the top, looks good.
  • you guys are being waaaay too quick to judge. That's how stack up is sealed. You can never say if its legit without having it in hand but I would tend to think that's real although possibly a water damaged box or something underneath causing loose wrap.

Dan, your point about the cello being too thick - actually stack up cello is and should be thicker than cello for other black boxes. I suspect this is a legit copy; just ugly.
  • ^ hm I was just going off observation, but it looked in other pics of more tightly sealed ones that it was the standard cello. Good to know Dan. I wonder if temperature changes (like if this were kept in a crawl space) would cause this over time...
  • My main issue is with the third pic. I'm willing to accept that over time the wrap has been loosened, but the upper left side looks completely crooked and folded in a really awkward way. I guess it could also be the result of some saggy wrap, but it looks very wrong to me.

I'm not trying to denounce this guy as some kind of scammer at all, I just don't think the seal looks legit. Either way, I'm sure this'll fetch a pretty penny.

    Man, you guys got TOLD!!

  • I'm not trying to "tell" anybody image just point out that when we accuse someone of selling resealed product we should be sure in our conclusions.

3rd pic - arse, what do you mean? if you mean that the seam is bunched and the seam line too thick, for a standard game, sure, but that's actually what you want in a stack up.

To me the only thing that looks even slightly off is the loose wrap, but that's not that big a deal IMO if the rest looks OK.

The bubbling at the top I've seen on other copies too.

This is the part that sent up the red flag to me. Obviously you would have a much better knowledge of this stuff than I do, Bronty. The way this bunching wraps from the side of the box around to the front of the box looks really unnatural to me.

  • It definitely does not seem factory from that pic. I would have probabley cried foul on that one as well, but I am not an expert on sealed games either.
  • MUAHAAHA

    men on games!

greater fold-over than normal and perhaps a slight source of concern but extra shrink at that corner is not a surprise.

but, you never know for sure until its in hand.
