I'm trying to clean it up a bit, and there is actually older postage stickers under the new ones. Looks like this old box has seen a lot of the country.
Well since the topic was lost... I hate the new search they're doing on video games within the games area. They removed the section on the left called platform and put these 3 stupid icons at top and the left one is for platform, but it only has like 7 systems in it. Now it's quite hard to scan by a certain system/systems.
I won a boxed Power Pad on eBay which arrived today. The seller cleverly managed to keep packing costs down by sending directly in the original box. Grrrr!
Oh man, that is terrible.
You should contact the seller and ask for a refund.
That makes my heart sink. I would be irate. That's why even on the rare occassion when I buy CIBs on eBay, I ask if they're going to ship it in a seperate box before I buy/bid... Even then; however, I worry. A lot.

That's odd, I still have the Platform options available. How are you navigating to the Video Games category, Tanooki?
I use a direct link to video-games.ebay.com, or I go through my-ebay and click categories->video games (or just straight off ebay.com.) I don't understand why it is doing it and it just started a few days ago and I never clicked a setting anywhere.
There's a discussion about it on one of the eBay boards which looks like the same thing (http://forums.ebay.com/db2/topic/Technical-Issues/New-Layout-Worthless/5100094840). I'm using IE9 (work laptop, not my fault) and the changes don't seem to have hit me yet. The current work around is to change i.html to m.html in the URL which reverts to the old template.
I noticed the eBay.com website changed the way you search certain platforms for games. I use the Canadian site so I don't know how long the change has been but on the Canadian site you can still choose to isolate a search for games on the full list of consoles. All you have to do is search for the games on the Canadian site (eBay.ca) just like you would before they changed the format and then simply change .ca to .com and you should be good to go!
Wow talk about stupid that you have to jump all over to try and get that thing back to how it was...horrible. The i.html to m.html didn't help either as the platform listing is still gone on the left with 3 big pics with drop boxes with nearly nothing in them is front and center at the top. If someone wants to do more than searching for a game by name you're pretty fubar.
Here's what it's doing now and as you can see, not much for choice on platform options as that's the full box.
I have been trying to find an ISS 2000 for n64. I just got outbid with 4 seconds to go. My pudgy little fingers couldn't react fast enough. What a crushing defeat. It ended at $36. Thats half the value of all the BIN's.
eBay lately with the changes are annoying. I really do not like the watchers being shown to everyone. I enjoyed just knowing that information. lol What do you guys think?
My rant today is eBay sellers who don't actually want to sell. I sent a $35 offer on a $50 item yesterday. I figured it was a fair enough offer to get a counter at least. Couple hours later I get a decline. So I message the seller asking what number they were thinking and they said they can't go any lower than $48.
What is the point of taking offers on an item if you won't sell less than what you are asking?
I have a kind-of entertaining 'Best Offer' scenario that I encountered recently. I was looking at a game that had a BIN of 9.99 or best offer.
I offered 7.50. He countered with 9.90.
I offered 8.50. He countered with 9.90.
I just bought it for 9.99, haha.
Ultimately, it is up to the seller to decide what they want to accept on a best offer. There is no hard and fast rule (expect to get 15% off or 10% off). I have made purchases where my offer of 50% of the BIN price was accepted, and then I had the scenario above, where they would only give a 1% discount. It is less upsetting if you just view it as...hey, the price is $50. Maybe you'll get extra lucky and get a random discount just because, but maybe not.
I know some people use BIN + Best offer to basically field for interest and to get an approximate valuation of something.
I also know (having sold before with a best offer), that a lot of buyers will send you RIDICULOUS offers, just to get the lowest they can possibly get. The reason I made the 50% offer as I mentioned above, is because the BIN price was severely overvalued, and my offer was a fair offer for the game. However, in some cases buyers will send crazy offers that are like 1/2 the market value of a game, to see if the seller will bite.
I don't really know that I have a point here - just rambling, heh.
I know what you're saying though, it can be frustrating.

It's not doing this to me. I use Firefox 15.0. Maybe they stopped? Otherwise, that would really stupid. eBay, of all companies, should know that people don't stop buying games just becuase GameStop stops carrying them. Especially since modern game sales are in the shitter and retro is on fire.

Yeah, they stopped it seems. I was also extremely annoyed by this, and I'm glad they came to their senses.
Since this is called the 'rant' thread, get ready for a RANT! I don't want an 'answer' to this, I just need to vent, heh.
UGHHHHHH!!!!!!! I'm getting seriously frustrated by all the crappy sellers out there. Can you do something for me? Can you live up to your freaking word? When you sell something as XXXX, can you just deliver on XXXX without the bullcrap and deceit and mischief? I'm not expecting a bonus, or a bowtie on the package, or anything extra special. I just want you to be an honest human being and deliver on your promises. I hope you're happy, knowing that you weaseled your way into an extra $15 or $20 by taking advantage of me. I'm sure your wife, kids, and family are so proud of you for being such a stand-up member of society.
It's not really a big deal, and I'm not getting into details, but I'm tired of just taking the loss because it's not "worth" my time. I'm gonna have to start returning all these things...
video-games.ebay.com - click games -- nope, still there, still offensive. Got my hopes up.
sadikyo I'm feeling similarly about that right now in respect to shipping in a timely fashion. I have a hot NES game with some paper coming with it and I never was told when it shipped and the douche tried to use media mail so it was stuck at the post office for a day so he upped it to priority mail, but I have no tracking so we'll see if it's here tomorrow or Saturday. Then a university student I get a GBA game off of for my move to have something to do I buy, 2 days later it hasn't shipped, and then when asked he says it was put out but maybe the university post office hasn't given it over. I'm thinking, really? I'm going to be mad if the stuff isn't here by the time I have to redirect the mail as that'll delay anything by quite a few days when itdoes the address sticker label ping pong shuffle.
I understand the frustration about timely shipping. I ordered a "brand new" DS game on September 17. It was shipped out TWO WEEKS later, and just arrived yesterday.
Aaaaaaannnnnddddd, of course it was open and used. Wasn't even in excellent shape, either.
Just a few days before that, I ordered a brand new and factory sealed PS1 game. Shipped relatively quickly, but was a TERRIBLE reseal. You could even see the creases in the manual under the case - clearly it was a used game.
I'm returning both, but it's just frustrating and a waste of time.
I don't really buy new on ebay unless it's a modern retail title as I don't trust for fraud and other garbage including back door shenanigans. I know it obviously would be infuriating with such an obvious lie.

its like the site design people have to do something to show their job should be kept and they keep doing pointless tweaks.
when you search for something like above and you get the stock photo with a summary. that is just ebay being effin amazon. EBAY QUIT BEING AMAZON. Keep doing what made you popular. There is no need to shift. They claim the buying market is changing and we are adapting.....well ebay people dont go to ebay for normal retail so you dont have to adapt to "market standards". Youve already massacred return policies, top rated sellers, etc. please stop. Ebay is just becoming another site like amazon, overstock, newegg, blah blah blah. all the same. ebays new ceo is a piece of trash and listening him talk in those town hall meetings makes me want to pull my hair out. My favorite line from him responding to a concerned seller on buyers not understanding the system
I won a boxed Power Pad on eBay which arrived today. The seller cleverly managed to keep packing costs down by sending directly in the original box. Grrrr!
That EXACT thing happened to me about 5 years ago. I only paid $10 for the thing, so I said forget it, but I bought a Power Pad in the box FOR THE BOX!
My eBay rant.......
For a short while my eBay account was not linked with my paypal account and I was unaware of it. I sold an item while this was happening. After the item sold I got an e-mail from paypal saying, "You've got cash. This email confirms that you have received a payment for $XX USD from YYYY YYYYY." I figured I had the money and sent out the item. A few days later the payment was reversed because I had not claimed the funds.
So now I don't have the item or the payment. Contacting paypal and eBay resolves nothing. Paypal told me on the phone that because the accounts weren't linked, the payer can reverse their payment at ANY time without consequence desptie the e-mail to me leading me believe that "I have cash". I don't have cash.
And the part that really upsets me the most is how defensive everyone at eBay and paypal are. According to both of them, this is 100% my fault. A notification from paypal that I wasn't actually getting my money would have been nice. Ugh!

Sums up my fn gamestop experiences.

$.90 SHIPPING fee (wtf? since when are there shipping fees?)
$12.47 final value fee
$.50 insertion fee
oh, and then $6 paypal fees.
So about $20 lost to fees. So I actually only got paid about $155. Really done with eBay now. Switching back to selling on here.
