sorry phin I do not follow your quote an reply, would you be kind enough to explain it to everyone?

  • These would have looked awesome in clear transparent colors like retrousb. I just prefer the blocky NA carts over the Pal/Jap roundy carts. Also, I'm wondering, do PAL/Fami carts have tabs on them, or are they interchangable? The tabs on my SNES are busted out so I can at least play Famicom games. I know PAL lockout chips won't work, though.
  • Well I only did the NTSC mold for now! hehe may be in the future I can do a PAL/Fsmi with holes!
  • Oh, Forget it. Paul is correct, and I'm incorrect. are you guys happy now?

Point taken, please don't spam this thread.

The OP took the time and money to get his NTSC shells made.

Until he posts about Super Famicom shells, please DO NOT post about it again.

You need them that bad, get your own made and stop threadcrapping.
  • Damn. New cases! We can stop killing sports games.

    That's cool.
  • I can still get sports games for $2 shipped, its not economical for these yet.
  • Okay, here it is for the cheap seats:

    STOP FUCKING THREADCRAPPING

Unless you're placing an order, or posting something complimentary, just shut your traps already.

Humans? Well, of course, unless some of us are space aliens...

If you decide to do another production run off the molds you already have, clear plastic would look awesome!
  • How much do the repro shells weigh compared to the original ones?
  • They are about the same weight.
  • How much is "about"?

Can you post an actual weight of the reprouction cartridge?

I am not trying to be a troll, but I am taking the weight into consideration if I choose to purchase. Otherwise I'll just stick from harvesting shells from sports games.
  • I dont have an scale on my house, but Next trip to office depot ill use theirs.

you want each weigh for front and back, or full weight of both together?

Also Protitus bought some games from me, he can also tell you the quality/weight, just to have another opinion.
  • Full weight of shell. Thanks
  • Uh oh... I guess I'm not ready yet.
  • If there were Super Famicom shaped shells that had the 2 "back bumps" to fit inside a U.S. Super NES, would you obtain those?
  • There is not, and I would have to save up again to buy a mold.

That's the most expensive part. The molds. The Production is not that expensive in comparison.

When you do decide to do another production run on these molds, would it be possible to use clear plastics instead of flat grey? RetroUSB has been doing clear NES cases and they seem to be quite popular with the repro/homebrew community.

    http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath=24

While I have nothing against RetroUSB using universal carts, I really prefer the blocky NTSC style SNES cases as opposed to the "universal" PAL/SFC carts. I think it's a valid point that grey sports titles can be harvested for their shells for about $2, less than what you are currently offering, and the RetroUSB NES/SNES translucent repros just look super sharp. I think people wanting to use brand new carts would prefer a non-gray case. And as long as people place foil stickers over the EPROM windows, there shouldn't be an issue with UV light penetrating the cases and causing premature bit rot. I'm currently on the fence regarding buying an SNES Power Pak. I have the NES version and I love it! If I should decide to get one, I would like to replace the cart shell with one of your rectangular repro cases in the future, preferably a clear or red transparent one!
  • I will consider it!

The reason I did the block grey one, Is because Im planning in releasing Homebrew games, 2 per year at least.

So I want them to look like the old school ones. It is more of a personal decimation than of a market research hehe.
  • Hello - will you please email me about ordering some shells?

    snes@williamkage.com

This would be much easier than resurfacing donors.

    Thanks!
  • I got some shells in from pichichi and they look damn good. Everything is new and clean and the pressure screws work really nicely. The pics don't do em justice.
  • I just ordered a board only Super Everdrive. Put me down for two cart shells, please. Has anyone had any luck spray-painting the gray cart plastics? I'm thinking a custom gold Everdrive cart would look pretty rad...
  • UPDATE on Cart Weight:

I weighted "Super Play Action Football" Shell, it had front and back stickers, and a small price sticker

it weighted 0.15 Lbs on the Mail scale.

I weighted my Blank Shell with no stickers:

it weighted 0.15 lbs on the mail Scale.

I purchased a pain off walmart, was expensive, like 6 bucks, but it was extremely easy to paint with.

Does an Everdrive Shell fits inside a regular snes Shell?

Well actually this will be convenient cause you can snap open and snap shut easily whenever you want to update your SD card.

I have a couple of labels designs for the everdrive. PM for details if you are interested.
  • The SD card needs a small rectangle slot cut out in the top of the cart shell (i'm not sure, but I believe the SD card may stick out the top of the cart even when fully inserted) but that can be easily fixed with a dremel drill. Assuming the internal dimensions are the same, the Everdrive was made to fit original cart shells and your repro carts were made to fit original boards, so I don't see any reason for it not to fit. I have heard of people getting excellent results painting cart plastics / console shells with the new Krylon Fusion for plastics spraypaint. They've even got a new "blond shimmer" which presumably has a brushed gold look. And yes, I would be interested in a custom Everdrive label. I'll be sending a PM by your way later.
  • Yeah, it the Everdrive board is made for standard shell, yes it will fit with no problem whatsoever!\

I got that paint brand to paint a shell white....

worst project ever hahha, It was an epic fail for me...But I guess light colors are harder to paint on the carts, you need to be more experienced.

I have had no problems painting : black matte, black glossy, gold, silver, and dark blue (but has metallic finish).

i need to try red, and may be another brand for white.
  • Good luck, pichichi010.
