Cancel: You get your money back what you paid already. If you need the cash, this might be the best route.
Sell it: You can possibly make money off of it. However it is going to be difficult, as some people will know you are inflating the price. It would be best to sell it off for the price you already paid, and let the person pay the balance due when they pick it up
Either way, i dont think you are going to lose any money off of it. It would be nearly impossible to try and make money from it too.

Thanks for the feedback.
I do see quite a lot of these selling on eBay, but I feel weird about listing something I don't yet own.
I would like to keep the system since Zombie-U and NSMB2 are looking fun.
If I could make a little bit on this it would help me buy it back again sooner. (After Xmas bills are paid off.)
I would think you'd be able to make money off of it since if I'm correct, it's nearly sold out nation-wide in terms of pre-orders, and I know people had no problem making money off the Wii when it first launched.
yea I say wait til launch and sell it to pats. couldn't go to a better guy plus you'll make a few bucks since he will pay a small premium. You'd be ding him a favor for his family too so you should feel all warm and cozy inside :-P
If someone wants it then and is willing to pay it why not?...ill wipe the memory and put it back in the box...ive seen preorders go for 700 on the bay...i figure me playing nintendo land and mario till it sells aint that big a lose....id just turn around and buy a new one after i sell either way....the joys of working electronics retail the day new ones come in ill know
And i wouldnt be firm on the 500...thats just what ill put as a asking price....since the deluxes only costs me around 315...even if i sold it at retail id make money and still get the club points
People were selling Wiis on Ebay in late November 2006 for like $700! Pissed me off royally.
Why don't you just buy the Wii-U at retail on launch, then do an NA auction with $350 minimum bid, and let the community set the price. At least you'll guarantee it will go to a good home that way. Especially since you have the Deluxe Bundle, it should be extremely difficult to obtain at a reasonable price after launch. I got my Wii after camping out at Wallmart for over 8 hours on December 8th, 2006. It went on sale at 8:00am in the morning. I arrived at 11:40pm and was number 7 out of 9; Got my Wii. If Wii-U is anything like Wii launch was, people will be lining up en-masse to get one, and it will be OOS for a whole freaking year. Give back to the community. I'm definitely picking up my deluxe preorder at Gamestop next week, although I probably won't get to play it until December, since my mom is buying it for me.

Yeah, I don't care for that either, but I do see a difference between someone selling their personal purchase because of money issues and someone on eBay selling 50 of them for twice the cost.
Based on what I've been seeing them sell for I think asking $100 over what I paid would be reasonable.
This would help me feel better about giving up my pre-order and pay a couple bills that need paying.
I'd like to say the hell with it, keep the Wii-U Deluxe and ignore my CC bills, but I just knowing I have unpaid bills haunts me.
Congrats on getting one (in December). I'd love to be able to play the New SMB2 and Zombie-U.
Is the WiiU launch really going to be like the wii launch though? The price is high on the preorders only because people assume that there will be a shortage of WiiU systems. Unless there is evidence to suggest that other than preorder demand(as I'd imagine that a non-negligible amount of the preorder demand is coming from people looking to make a profit off of them) I would not make the gamble that your system will sell for more than retail.
I'm not saying that the WiiU won't be a big seller... but Nintendo is in a very different position now than they were when the Wii was launched. I'd imagine they have a better idea of how to project demand and more money in the coffers to meet that demand.
So, my personal vote is for selling your preorder You know you can get more for it now than what you paid for it, and even if there actually is a shortage of WiiU systems... so what? It's not like you lost anything you KNEW you would get.
Example: I did not preorder a WiiU. However, my brother did and he actually preordered 2... but he doesn't actually plan on buying a WiiU for personal use until the prices drop on them. That's 2 WiiU's that are experiencing this "phantom" demand.
Nintendo is talking like supply is slightly better than Wii was, but projected shipments through christmas are still pretty low. Theres some #'s on CAG coming from people who have projected shipment allocations through the holidays and it doesn't look too fantastic
Also bear in mind that there will be a severe shortage of deluxe consoles at and immediately following launch. There's a ton more "standard" white packages being rolled out than deluxes. Any true hardcore gamer or Nintendo fanboy wil demand the black deluxe units, while the casuals will clamor for the standard Wii units, and then turn around and buy Nintendo Land for an additional $50 or $60.
You say your brother is hoarding two preorder tickets for the deluxe model with the anticipation of flipping them. It's a free country, but in my eyes that's two less Deluxe Wi-Us going into the hands of gamers who will enjoy them, and two more "tech" gadgets destined for the closet of a wealthy non-gamer parent who feels their spoiled children deserve everything regardless of sticker price.

Decisions..
Sell it. I would be interested in buying one for my family. I would be willing to pay a small premium price over the price you paid.
I'd do this. You're making a little extra coin plus helping a NA have a good Christmas.

Here is your answer. You could even donate the extra profit to NA if you were feeling like being extra-Christmas-y!

You're getting it to sell and you're going to play it first?
Is it really worth dropping the value just for a couple games.
Also, do you think a used Wii-U will sell for $500?

$500 sounds reasonable, but why not keep it new and play a store kiosk to get your fix?

Just my two cents...
Worst case is you can return it unopened to the retailer you bought it from.
In my eyes, this is no different than people buying a lot of games off eBay or Craigslist and then flipping them to make a profit.
