Need help figuring out a game title

Ok so, I seem to remember an old gameboy game but I don't remember the name of it. It stuck out in my mind because it was a game that could only be played 2 player using a link cable. There was a way to play one-player with a cheat code I think. I remember hearing about it in Tips and Tricks magazine, or some similar magazine. I know almost nothing else about it except I think it was a puzzle game but I'm only like 50% sure on that. I was about 7 or 8 years old when I heard about it so it must've been around in like 1996 or 1997. I want to figure out what it was so I can maybe buy it if it's any good. Thanks in advance.
