GBC Speaker needs replacement

My GBC speaker has recently bit the dust and needs replacement.  D:  I tested the headphone jack and that works completely fine. The speaker crackles and sound barely emits from it. My sodering skills aren't great, so I'd prefer to have someone who's had more experience to fix it for me. I'm willing to pay for labor and parts, and of course shipping both ways. Is anyone interested and have done this before?

I'd appreciate any help! Feel free to PM me or respond to this thread.

  • I dropped my GBC hard on the floor in 2004 and the exact same symptoms as yours happened. I ended up replacing it with a GBA unit. I imagine it's a loose wire or bust3d speaker.
  • It might just be cheaper to get a new hand held altogether than it would be to buy the parts and pay someone to fix it along with pay for shipping to and from.

A good GBA where I am at is around 30 bucks and I think the GBCs are $20-$30.
  • I can do it, but you probably wouldn't like the shipping to Canada.

Thanks for the offer. Ha, I'd imagine the shipping would be pricey! I ended up eBaying another handheld.
  • I can do it for you, just take care of shipping both ways.
  • I was going to say, there are a bunch of us that could fix it quick, but might just be cheaper to buy a new one.

  • At first I tried using an 8-ohm speaker from RadioShack, but it was too big. Then tried using a speaker from an old-school pair of headphones, but it ended up being too small. You're right, it was just easier buying another GBC.

Doesn't matter if it is smaller. It still will work just fine and will produce the same or better music/noise level.
