im wondering because the more you know them more you can help and whenever i go to the craigslist deals or good BIN threads im always finding out that half the stuff put in those threads nobody needs or is just in too bad of shape so i started this thread to help everyone out so if you can put your needs down so people can try and help you out so were not in a sticky situation like the good BIN or craigslist deal thread.By doing this it would help a lot of people out i mean why wouldnt it.

    Ok sorry about that but basically what i was asking is why don't we have a seperate thread where everyone can post their lists of things they are trying to find but are not having much luck with.Or even help them find things for resale.I know what you are thinking isn't there a thread like that already, well kind of but what im trying to do is have one thread for resale, one thread for needs, and one thread for helping people out such as

    Maybe I'm wrong, but I THINK he's trying to suggest the idea of having ONE thread, where people all post what they really want but are having trouble finding? So that someone who wants to help them out could go through the one thread and see everyone's biggest needs to try to help them out?



    Like...If you could pick 5 things that you really really want the most (more than your regular WTB interests) what would they be? And have each person post their answer so they could be helped out?

    We have a WTB area and since it is searchable, it would be much easier for someone to search then a single thread.



    I am not sure what you think the advantages of a single thread would be, but from what I've seen individual posts get lost in a large thread.

    for one you wouldnt have to look all over the place to find what people want

    2 you have easy access to what people want so you know what stuff to post and what not to post in BIN threads.3rd less time searching for your wants because others are in a way helping you do it. 4th less cluttered threads for BIN or craigslist because now people would only post what they and others may need.

    I think it it a good idea myself!! Just one thread..But after so many posts we restart it and start over..cause I don't think that people would like to go thru 100 pages, you know what I am saying guys.

    Logistically this would never work. First the search function searches by threads, not in a thread. You would need to do a control f to find the keyword and go page by page of a thread that would undoubtedly be huge. Where as now if you want to know if someone is looking for a specific game you can go to advanced search and just look in the buyers forum.



    Plus it would rely on everyone keeping their lists constantly up to date, which would never happen.



    Most people who post items in the random good BIN and craigslist threads know if the item is a good deal and desirable. It's unrealistic to expect people to check a different thread first to make sure someone is looking for it before they are allowed to post the link.

    EDIT: I guess I should contribute, too.   I think that it's a good idea in theory, but it's better suited towards a smaller forum.



    The most efficient way of doing this is having a WTB thread whose title/header includes big things your looking for, or even advertising in your signature.  Many people put what they're looking for in their signature, and this results in every post being an "ad" of sorts.  If you post frequently enough, it could be far better than having a post in a single thread.



    If everyone did that, then EVERY thread could be that one thread where everyone posts what they're really looking for.

    i got the idea from another forum where they had a similar concept except with modern games not Dreamcast and back while it was a good idea I now realize that it most likely would not work on here because of the the size of the community,but i do think we should honestly keep track of the games that are most needed like rarities and stuff not everyone would have to do it if they didn't want to. That's just a thought though.

    I don't see why this is a good idea, it's pretty much the same thing except more of a convoluted mess for the mods to maintain, it can be bumpable to oblivion, plus even more excessive post bumpage in a single thread, and the fact that you can't use the search function.



    As people mentioned, we can already still are wants in our siggys anyway. I see what you're getting at, but for this forum, I don't think it'll work out too well, especially since everyone likes the idea of controlling their own thread than rather post in another that can go unheard.

    I think he needs to just look at the collection list tool.



    New dude, there is already rarities for games, R1-R10. Listed on right hand side. Pretty accurate. Or the thread with the rare game poll.
