Problem with a reproduction purchase

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post, so please move the thread if necessary.

In early September I purchased a Star Ocean SNES reproduction from Retrozone. Due to work/life, I haven't had the opportunity to play the game until today. I have a nice mini-vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the plan was to finally immerse myself in this game. This evening I fired up the SNES and started playing, and everything was fine until I attempted to save the game.

Saves don't work.

I noticed Retrozone has a 60-day return policy. However, I no longer qualify for this as it's been about 80 days since the date of purchase, so it looks like I'm out of luck with my cash.

So, two questions:

1:   I have zero knowledge when it comes to creating reproductions, but is this something that could possibly be fixed/a hardware (battery) problem?

2:   Is there anyone here who might be able to fix this game? I'm happy to ship it over and paypal some $$ for your diagnostic/repair efforts.

Please halp!

  • why don't you just email retrozone I bet he will probably help you
  • could be a dead battery or bad connection. I can fix it if thats the case. PM me if interested or try to get ahold of RetroZone first if you'd like. No worries
  • Might take 80 more days to contact him if you contact him through all means on his site besides NESDev IRC. Go to efnet.org and then join #nesdev with query (private message, will appear in a new tab) retrousb/bunny directly. I have yet to hear anyone say they reached him with any way besides that or him seeing the topic on here. Good luck.

^ I was about to mention you! lol

I'm sure Retrozone can help, but if you can't get a hold of them, ulasamosa is your man. Dude does awesome work (Check his siggy)

  • Awesome, thanks everyone for the replies.
  • Yo, if it's just a dead battery and you can confirm this I'll change it out for free to save you and retrozone the time. Happy thanksgiving dudes.
  • Retrozone does not uses Battery to save, they use Flash technology I believe.

so they probably need to peplace your cart!

    good luck!
  • might help to define 'doesnt work', does it lose your saves after powering off, or does trying to save result in some kind of error?
