Tombi! 2 - Australian PAL Release SCES-02147 Barcode: 711719173922

Some history:

The first Tombi! game is my all time favourite game for the Playstation 1, it brings back fond childhood memories and nostalgia. Recently, I bought the sequel off Ebay just so I can have the complete series . When it arrived I noticed it came in a thinner jewel Playstation case. It also had the Australian coat of arms with the age rating printed on the front insert;back insert; and manual (English only). I googled the barcode and noticed this Australian variant is not on any database, and hence why I'm here.

Enough talking, here are the pics...

Any feedback or thoughts are most welcome.

  • hey these style cases came out towards the end of the PS1's life.

A lot of Platinum stuff was re-released in black label.

I'd say its possible your missing the front insert. Can't be sure thought

until you see a copy with the front insert. & the sticker on the front of the case (probably replaced front case).

Good find either anyway. I keep my eye out for it.
  • Nothing is missing, second picture down is the reverse side of the front insert. Third picture down is the manual, it's identical to the front insert minus the barcode number. I agree, the front case might have been replaced but didn't you say some of these PAL ANZ (Australian & New Zealand) release's came with no stickers?

    Thanks for your thoughts

    P.S.

Based on your username, I think you might be the guy I saw on youtube with the slim PAL ANZ collection
  • yep that's me

Nar they do come with stickers I think it maybe the 2CD case ones where a bit iffy but I think they are

legit as I've seen heaps now
  • Haha I was thinking that's gotta be you,

Some lucky person bought the Tombi! Euro release for AUD $50.00 here in Oz just recently. Can't believe this is the first time this Australian release has been documented. There's gotta be more floating around in people's garage's, drawers and boxes.

Now if I can only find a good slim case with a PS1 hologram sticker on the front I could swap it out.

  • I think I have a spare copy of Mary Kate & Ashley.
  • In the title you have the SLES code wrong its on the other side.

SCES-02147 . can you find SCES-02147-ANZ anywhere as that is the usual code for these releases?
  • Lol, might pop down to Cash Converter's (puts on dirty shady outfit) and buy a cheap throw-away PS1 game for it.
  • Fixed the SCES number in the title, after a good look I can't find "ANZ" anywhere.

P.S. Makes me wonder if there's an Australian variant of the first Tombi! game.
  • Definitely nice find, thanks for sharing!
  • Thanks Guyra, I felt compelled to share this variant with the world when I realised it was undocumented until now.
  • And I'm glad you did. It will make things easier for anyone else searching for information about this. If someone else suddenly finds the same variant as you have got there, there's now at least a chance of finding this thread about it, and various databases will hopefully pick up on it too, if they're missing it.
  • I also have this Australian version of Tombi 2 ..Picked it up mint from cash converters for a cool $3 a few years ago
