I think its silly that a fee called "sellers fees" is being paid by a buyer. I really can't make it any simpler than that...
Sorry you missed the point of the rant.
what is this. . .i don't even
Guess what? everytime you pay for something in a brick and mortar big box store, you're paying seller fees -_-
I guess I missed the part where they advertise the amount they are receiving, then add in the Visa/other fees. They don't do that b/c its an odd way to advertise and an easy way to turn someone off from a sale.
Why is it so hard to advertise final value? It's lazy and provides a uniform method of working across the board.
Don't want to pay any "sellers fees" buy direct from the manufacture, there problem solved. Entitled........
This has nothing to do with either party being entitled. Did you read anything that was written?
This is about perception. Like gamecollector pointed out a few posts ago, people price things on ebay with the fees in mind, is it so hard to do on here an other sites?
NA allows gift payment, it doesn't encourage it, and for good reason. The problem comes in that I see a price for a transaction type not reccomended, and it is my perception (see: reailty), that I am being charged an additional percentage to protect the purchase.
Thats fine and dandy until you realize that right on the paypal site buying something is "Always free".
I fucking hate the Goodwill in downtown at times. Seriously, I go out of my way into one so I can look at a few Atari games. They're all unpriced, so I expect a small amount. I grab ET, Video Pinball (Pong), a Milton Bradley game, and Venture. I go to the clerk and ask how much, she said $5-10 each. That's pretty fucking high for Atari games! And right beside it is a very clean Genesis with controllers, wires, everything, for $20. Now, what would you choose- 4 Atari games (one of them being shit), or a nice Genesis for $20?
I went to a different one and found much nicer prices, but there wasn't anything that great- only thing I found of value were N64 controllers for $4, a loose copy of Columns for the Genesis for $2, and a sealed GBA sports game for $7. Still didn't take it, though.
Ehh that's goodwill. Each store randomly prices. I find you'll get the clueless so it's cheap, the so called 'informed' who check ebay BIN prices and tack on shipping possibly too for the convenience of no shipping, and the others are the really informed on staff who will price stuff accurately to what it sells for online or slightly under. It just is hit and miss. So far the ones I've tried out here since being back in KY have been a graveyard of nothing or pure crap but the prices aren't bad at least.
There was a good one way out of my way, so if I have a day off, I'll just take a bus to it and see what they have. When I was a kid, they used to have awesome game stuff, but it was scarce.
Woke up today with 3 responses to my craigslist ad, I'm wanting to buy Dragon Warrior III (NES), cart only. $35.
One response was "I have the GameBoy version you can have it for $60"
Second: "I'll sell you my Dragon Warrior III, it has a blockbuster sticker on it, but I wont take less than $70, that's what it's going for on craigslist and some online retailers."
Third response: "I have Dragon Warrior I, I'll sell you it for $35!"
Mass response from me to all 3 of them. "F*** off."
At what point did a offer made on eBay not become a contractual obligation? I had an offer on something this morning and was going to wait to see if I had a higher offer and now just got a Message saying that the offer had been retracted. I did not know this was even an option. Kind of bummed. I thought I had 48 hours to respond.
I hate it when........People on Amazon claim an item is defective because they have buyer's remorse and want to return it. Doesn't happen often but still pisses me off, just say you want to return it cause you changed your mind I don't care I accept all returns as long as you didn't break it.

Since always. An offer made is not contractually binding until you accept it as a seller, whether it's on eBay or on the streets.

Eh....I don't know about always. I can remember making offers and it clearly stated once an offer is made, it cannot be changed. I'm paraphrasing that but I don't biebe it has always been that way.
I know this is an eBay rant thread, but I actually want to (troll?) say something nice about the new layout.
They added easy access to completed listings, and now you can also see "sold only" like you could do previously only on the mobile app.
Other than that, I don't like the layout. And my preferences keep getting reset. But I like the "sold only" listings, so I don't have to sort through miles of red.
Agreed I do like those new buttons, the only problem is that the completed option on the left doesn't always pop up anymore which hurts if you're not sticking to a specific item where that really handy box does pop up. I do like that new feature.
I finally have something to complain about. Went to Gamestop cause I happened to be in the area tonight. I saw a 007 Legends promo box on the wall stating it was released on Wii U. Only the promo box that says Coming 12/4/12 was on the wall. So I picked it up and went to the counter to get a copy. Guy said yeah we have one more in stock, went in the back and brought it out. Went to pay and the guy said I couldn't have it. I'm like why not? He said it's not officially released until 12/11, despite the fact that it said on the promo boxes on the wall that 12/4 was the release date. I even said, "I wont play it until Tuesday I promise." He said sorry but we can reserve it for you for $5. I said no thanks and left. Why would the store have a copy in if it wasn't for sale until 12/11? And why would it be listed for sale, then not sell it to me? And why would you have promo artwork out there that clearly says 12/4 and got me a gamer boner for nothing? There's a reason I haven't been to Gamestop in over a year. I didnt reserve anything and I'll be going to get it elsewhere on Tuesday. Just pissed me off. That is all.
They open Games and then label them as "New" and sell 'em at "New" because they can.
I got screwed ordering 2 copies of Xenoblade Chronicles "New" on their website because nobody else had 'em.
I call the surrounding areas, because my invoice says I can exchange locally they're all "down to the last copy, and that's open as well, Sir."
The one in my Town, Manager was a straight bitch. She was talking down to me, didn't care, and even had the audacity to correct me on how I say Xenoblade. Like she had no idea what I was talking about. She says "Oh, you mean Z-no blade.
No bitch, I mean I want a NEW Game, because that's why I purchased, not a GameStop "New" Game!! This things' Manual is all folded and messed up, the disc is put in this messed up little paper insert, and the Case itself isn't even looking new, either.
It's got marks on it and clearly, it is NOT new.
Now my only option is to send it back at my cost and HOPEFULLY get my money back or a sealed NEW Copy.
I bought 2, and at least 1 is actually NEW. I really wanted 1 to keep, 1 to sell in the future.
It's why I haven't dealt with them in years, and sure enough, the ONE time I go back to them, they screw me.
End of bitching...but it really burns my ass the way they do the consumer.
Yea, Gamespot/EB are shit for that. I went to four EB Games looking for Hyperdimension Neptunia I and II, All had I and II in stock, only 1/4 had an actual "new" copy of Hyperdimension Neptunia II, the rest all had opened "new" copies, and all had opened "new" copies of Hyperdimension Neptunia I, pissed the hell out of me, I haven't seen I since then, new or opened new. I got II, just not I.

I only have 30 days to do an exchange, so now I get to eat that return shipping on the item as well. I was honestly heartbroke when I saw there was no plastic...then I knew they got me.

They also used the damn Club Nintendo points as well!! SCUMBAGS!!
Gamestop/EB doesn't really sell new games. To be new (for me) it has to be factory sealed.
I don't think I have ever bought a "new" game from there that was shrink warped.
You know where I am getting good deals on actual "new" games? Wal-Mart. They seem to be offering lots of new DS and a bit more 3DS for $10-$20. Best part is they come shrink wrapped and truly brand new

Thankfully, the EBGames by my work has a manager that's a collector and knows what's low print and people will want sealed. I was lucky and they had a used complete Neptunia for $44.99 (Came with the artbook and giant box) and a sealed Mk II (Which I picked up happily along with God Hand for $1.99) Any way, back to the manager, he prints out scans of the labels and stuffs them in a blank case and leaves the sealed copy behind the counter. Why other EB/Gamestops dont do this is beyond me, I've seen another one, they don't put sticky part of stickers on the spines, instead they take the sticker with the wax paper on the back and slide it in the spine, making it easy to just pull it out.
There's one I check on my way to Game Deals, they usually have nothing in DS but caseless "New" games. Seems kids there have been stealing the cases for gutted new games and they had to make replacements. Out of about 9 EBgames I've been to, only 2 are smart and have people who know what the hell they're doing with games.
But the whole gutted new game thing is bullshit to the max, You leave the cases on the floor where kids can steal the manuals, inserts. On the topic of ranting about game stores, another store (Called Gamers Choice) near me puts sealed games on the shelves, but they cut open the cellophane and pop out the disc with a knife, yes. They cut a slit in the opening side of the case and take the disc out that way, WITH A FUCKING KNIFE. I caught one of the guys working there about to do it to Clock Tower 3, I stopped him and bought it for $20 before he cut it open. There are stores out there that are independant that treat games worse than GameStop. it's brutal what I've seen these guys do, all the used games discs are stuck in drawers that are just laying there, just a bunch of discs, getting scratched against eachother each time they open it up. AND the new games that are pryed out with the knife are in there too, so even if you buy a gutted "new" game from them, its either going to be fucked up from a knife, used, or fucked up from it sliding around the drawer.
Yea, it's total shit if you ask me too. That's why if I ever buy new from EB (which I have a few times) I make sure it's new new, not what I say "gutted" new to them. I got a new copy of Otomedius Excellent Special Edition a few months back, I brought it up to the counter (i was going to buy it regardless) and asked if it had the contents it originally came with. So they showed me the contents, they were all there, luckily for me I noticed a second actual "new" copy a few shelves down behind the counter. So I pointed it out and they didn't even know they had another copy. So I walked away with a mint new one of it.
Also went to buy Disgaea 3 for PS3 brand new, so I brought it up to the counter and asked if they had an actual sealed copy of it, and they did, it was their last one, and the clerk said that I was lucky I had asked because he was gonna give me the gutted one, I not only saved another game from being gutted, but I saved myself from buying an opened "new" game.
The cold hard truth is GS/EB doesn't give two shits if you buy their new games or not. They sell them for a loss anyway. Why would they go to even more trouble (and cost) of printing special inserts, etc when if you don't buy it, Joe Average Consumer will happily buy it for his son no questions asked. And that dad will probably come back with his son to trade games in, where you think trading in is a rip-off. Their demographic is casual players, not people on a forum such as this.
Glad to hear from all you about LameStop/EBLames...
The fact is, I don't do any biz with them, period. I absolutely HAD to buy from them on this Xenoblade, because those douchebags were the only carrier of the game.
I do my biz with Amazon, Wal*Mart, Best Buy and Newegg, in that order.
I was absolutely lucky to get ONE of them Factory Sealed...the other one is already packaged up and ready to be shipped back.
You gotta love how they got me for 50 plus tax, and now I'm shipping it back at my cost as well because they're such fuck ups at that Corporation.
I honestly want them to go under so bad!! Like someone said, vote with your wallet. I do that, but when they get a gem like this exclusively, it's unfortunately impossible to do.

It's honestly shocking to me that a Manager actually gives a shit about people being Collector's. That awesome to hear, actually.
That other shit they do with the knife, I'm surprised LameStop doesn't do this, actually. I also hate how LameStop says they "have to completely gut the games for display."
Bullshit. Get from the distributors display cases...losers.
That other shit they do with the knife, I'm surprised LameStop doesn't do this
Yeah, it's a indipendant store called "Gamers Choice" , not an EBgames. (Didn't know if I made that clear in my post)they have two locations in my area. Both stores do this.
EB Games usually only gets my Business for $10 and under games. And for the older generation of games since they're dirt cheap. I've gotten so many cheap valuable games from them. I only buy current/last gen games if they're
Think what you want about it, I don't do it from anywhere else.

On the topic of ranting about game stores, another store near me puts sealed games on the shelves, but they cut open the cellophane and pop out the disc with a knife, yes.

Yeah, it's a indipendant store called "Gamers Choice" , not an EBgames. (Didn't know if I made that clear in my post)they have two locations in my area. Both stores do this.
Think what you want about it, I don't do it from anywhere else.
