A few local pickups and some ebay deals were had in the past week.

The Super Smash Bros Melee is on it's way here, and in the meantime I happened to find another one out in the wild, along with another awesome game.

I paid $20 for the two Gamecubee games. They are both complete and discs are perfect.

Stopped back by the shop with the NES-101 that I had on hold, and payed off the remaining balance on it. Didn't find anything else here, but out behind is another pawn shop, and managed to pick up two Nintendo Power guides, and Little Ninja Brothers for $6. He wanted $8, but the label is in rough shape so I felt $6 was a fair deal, especially since I have never seen that game in this area before at any shops.

Was heading home after that and stopped at another pawn shop. I like this particular pawn shop because if something isn't rare, or popular, he puts it in his '$10 for 3' section, and I've picked yup some good stuff here before (Gauntlet Legends N64, Shin Megami Tensei PS2, One Piece Grand Adventure GameCube). Didn't find much to be had for NES, but still picked up Wrecking Crew, Pro Wrestling, and Top Gun Second Mission. In his case he had a 5-screw Kid Icarus for $10 so couldn't pass that up either.

.The DBZ DVD a buddy was going to take to the pawn shop in hopes of getting a few bucks out of it. He said he just needed $5, so I decided to take it off his hands for some debt he owes me. All in all a good day for pickups.

Someone contacted me through one of my facebook groups, told me they had some SNES games for sale, so I met him and picked them up for $25.00.

Stopped at a video game shop just down the road from his house, which I never go to because it's not that great, plus it's 20 minutes out of the way. Managed to find the NES games there for $10.00, and got a free Wild Guns manual that was just sitting there since I know the shopowner, and asked about it and was told I could just have it. Needs some ironing, or flattening, but it's in pretty good shape otherwise.

The complete Super Mario Sunshine I picked it up on a Buy It Now on Newly Listed on eBay the other morning really early for $10.00 with $2.00 free shipping. It's scratched but playable, and can easily be rebuffed. Great find right there.

Another local shop which I frequent often got in some boxed NES games (nothing good, but nice boxes), some hard cases, and this boxed toploader. I often talk about my collection to the two ladies that run the shop, and show them pictures sometimes and give them information when they need it, so they told me they would hold it for me until yesterday, and only charge me $100.00, no tax. They said another person came in yesterday morning and was looking at it, but they kept to their word and held it for me. I'm strapped for cash right now, but I put it on their layaway, and am going back next Thursday with the rest of the money to bring it home. I took some pictures of it in the shop, and it definitely needs cleaning, but other than that in real good condition!!

  • awesome finds man! was the evo at the salvation army or from the FB lady??

Awesome! i found EVO one time in the wild. Was so exciting!

EDIT NM pics finally loaded and i see the 2 $1.99ers.

    Awesome man!
  • Family Feud, NHL 96, the books, and the Gamecube games were from Salvation Army. Everything else was frmo the lady on Facebook.

I'm trying to figure out the safest way to go about getting that sticker and tape off of EVO, if I should even attempt to do so.
  • that tape looks like it should come off no sweat. Just make sure to start at the bottom and peel up. Left top nintendo logo and pull up. And heat will help
  • Got it! I don't think I've ever peeled a piece of tape that carefully before, lol.

I'm super surprised that there are no nicks in the label, considering the box they gave me with the SNES games in it looked like it was kicked around a barn
  • It's just clear tape. Just pick at it with a finger nail and I'm talking let the snail win the race type speed with it. The label I think is late enough you can't just sauce it with alcohol to eat away at it as it will just float the ink right off the sticker.
  • I did a little research and touched the smallest droplet of alcohol on a q-tip to a corner where it's black and nothing came up one bit. Perfectly safe to clean with Isopropyl.
  • Wow! really great find pal!

Be careful because I have damaged labels cleaning with isopropyl, thankfully nothing expensive. I would try with a few cheap practice carts first.

For stickers and tape a blow dryer works good, just enough to melt the glue and you can peel it right off.

  • I can tell pretty easily which labels isopropyl will damage, and which ones they won't. The ones it won't damage just have this certain shine to them.
  • Ah, much better:

  • I paid $10 in the wild for an EVO with sharpie on it that read "BUGEYE"

I gave it to my brother who collects SNES more than NES for christmas one year, boy was he excited
  • Awesome find bro!Congrats!
  • Nice finds! I'm very jealous of the EVO - I've been searching quite a while for one at a decent price now!

That is very true. Anything great I've ever found, I had no idea I was looking for it until it came about.

I'm a huge fan of Isopropyl, but it depends on the strength of it. The 91% I use on the plastic to help clean the Carts does and will take the ink right off the labels...don't use that high of a concentration on the Labels, bro.

    P.S. Awesome finds!!

You're all right! I don't know if it's Murphy's Law or something, but it always seems to be that way!

Maybe I should stop trying so hard to collect SNES and start collecting N64. I never really cared for the N64, yet I'm up to 16 or 17 consoles, and I've gone through like 8 copies of Super Smash Bros and have ran into Conker's twice for $1 now!

Either way, keep up the good work!

I think it also depends on the label. Some seem to have a glossy plastic layer over the ink and can withstand 91% IPA and Goo-Gone. Some aren't as glossy and I wouldn't dare touching the labels. As a general rule, I leave the labels alone unless it is very distracting.

    Ben
  • Posted the first finds of the year for me.

I have two more things coming from eBay right now, and should be here Monday hopefully. They're good stuffs, too
  • Added a couple ebay finds to my first post
  • I'm semi new to the game and I've been seeing DW3 sell for over $20

How did you get it for so cheap?

    Great find!!!
  • I work night shift at my job, so I take break at 3 AM, and get home at 6:30 AM, so I have time to see what's Newly Listed on eBay on Buy It Nows. Sometimes some good stuff shows up and I can manage to grab it since not as many people are online that early, which is the case with Dragon Warrior III, and Mega Man 2.

    New Pickups in first post.
  • Smart move...any trick to it? Just type in NES? Or do you search for games?
  • Newly Listed -> Buy it Now -> Search for "Nintendo"

Bump with some new stuff in first post!
  • Updated with my recent finds from the past week! Check them out!!!
