What games do you consider junk and what not?
There are some people like Xed and myself, who are not going for a complete Console set, and for a good reason: There is literally so much junk out there. Usually, junk consists of games, that are from a genre that you can't even stand, and even some crappy TV show or Movie based game and a whole bunch of Sports games, and even games that are considered the worst.
I would like to hear from you guys, of what do you actually consider junk and what not?
So here's my take of what I personally consider junk:
Formula 1 (And even games that are F1 related): Most of these games are sim-racers, which I'm not very fond of, especially the ones from Psygnosis or Sony (But since I'm going for a complete Psygnosis set, only the ones that Psygnosis made, need to be in). And there is even one F1 game from EA, that has a Platinum version, and needs to be in my collection aswell. Yet the rest of them should not come in my collection.
Common Take 2 Games on the PS1: When you go to a Retro game shop, a flea market or to a Retro Convention, or you browse on Ebay for various PS1 lots, you'll notice that there are a whole bunch of Take 2 games out there, which are mostly really crappy. And no, I'm not talking about GTA or some of the more uncommon games such as Monkey Hero, ONE and MoHo and even the early titles (Especially the ones from Crystal Dynamics) that they've published under their former BMG Interactive name. NO!!! I'm of course talking about titles such as Spec Ops, Hidden & Dangerous, Martian Gothic: Unification, Kiss Pinball, Railroad Tycoon II, Tunguska: Legend of Faith, and of course Motocross Mania. Most of these games are originally PC games, but then they were ported to the PS1 with either average or horrible results. The Bad thing is, you will see these games everywhere (No matter where you go), but the good news is, Hidden & Dangerous and Tunguska only got released in PAL, which is good, but then again, it's stuff that I really don't want to have in my collection, well, except for Martian Gothic (Which is a survival-horror game that people kinda talk about) and the first three Spec-Ops games (Which the Egypt mission in Ranger Elite somehow brings me back to the days, when I was playing the LA and Rio levels in THPS 3 back in 2001.), which I decided to keep them. But other than that, they should never be in my collection.
Cryo Interactive: This really obsucre French publisher produced a whole bunch of really bad games on the PS1, which never even made their appearances on the PS1 demo discs as playable demos. The only game that I keep for my collection is Test Drive 6, which is actually not that bad, but other than that, it's a publisher that should never be in my collection. They also made some Point-n-Click games, which I'm not really fond of, because I kinda find them too boring, which some people might consider good.
Microids: Same as Cryo
Call of Duty: As you already get it by now. Many people really play this game and always love to destroy their own copies of it (Film them being destroyed in the process and upload them to Youtube), for a good reason: Every game since the first Modern Warfare tries to be the same thing over and over again and get constantly plagued by it's completely overrated multiplayer that's plagued by small maps, noobs and campers. And this is also a very good reason, why I had to miss out MW3 and it's latest entry Black Ops II, because of that reason. I also get really sick of it, when people constantly talk about it.
FIFA and PES: As with COD, this is also a game, that I always get sick of hearing about them. I even used to play both of these games, until 2009 when I started to become literally bored with playing these games. I pretty much decided not to play these games anymore. But then, these are games you will always see everywhere, and games that people always constantly talk about, next to Madden.
RPGs: It's a collector's favorite genre, but honestly, it's not really my taste. I know I have FFVIII in my collection, but I'm never going to play that game, because I would instantly fall asleep after walking around an open world to look for enemies to fight against, beat enemies in a turn-based battle mode to gain GILs, EXP and some items to level up until you're strong enough to beat the impossible (especially with FFVIII's Clutch-system o_O ), go to various towns or cities to visit shops to buy health- and manapacks, new weapons or magic spells, upgrades and having to sit through millions of hours on it. It's not really my personal style TBH, and therefore, I personally consider it junk.
And here are games that I don't consider junk:
Best of Infogrames: Same as EA Classics. (Check my topic about it).
EA Classics: As with Platinum and Best of Infogrames, I am also trying to get a complete set of every single PS1 game, that got an EA Classics release (Refer to my EA Classics topic for information)
PS1 Platinum: Since Platinum looks so disgraceful with it's silver border, spine and Copyright box and it's somehow unappealing, generic looking discs, I decided to try and grab a hold on all the PS1 games that all have a Platinum version, even the ones that I'm not very fond of such as Final Fantasy etc.
Psygnosis: Granted, they made some really bad games and some really cool ones, and also some games that you might consider junk. But this is a publisher, that I need to have a fullset of. (See my Psygnosis topic for more info)
Games on the PS1 that appared on PAL demo discs: I will try to get all the PS1 games, that made their appearances as playable demos on the various PS1 PAL demo discs, even though there maybe games, which people really do consider junk such as Racing games, Wrestling games, Sports games etc.
Wrestling Games (Except for the old-school ones): I know some people really don't like Wrestling, usually because that most of the action is staged (As they don't want to make those fights to be serious). I personally wasn't really into wrestling until I came across WWF Smackdown at Andrä at the summer of 2011 at one day, when I saw it for €5, and I didn't even bought it. But when I came back to Andrä the next day, someone snagged it and I fell into heavy depression, and then a few days later, I bougt WWF Smackdown 2, and I somehow happen to get a huge chuck on Wrestling games with their "Hold direction and press button" style grapple system, which most gamers who play these games, really like to use. There are a whole bunch of really bad wrestling games, such as two WCW games from THQ (Nitro and Thunder), Showdown: Legends of Wrestling, WCW Backstage Assault and even the two ECW and the two WWF games from Acclaim, which are plagued by poor controls, glitches, bad clipping etc.

Comments
Even if it was NTSC-J Jeopardy. I'd still try to play it.
But keeping on topic:
Any old Sports games - The most tragic thing that can happen upon walking into a game store is to find they have a Retro section and it is just full of old sports games. I don't think they can be any other games that fit the description of junk better.
I have to say, when it comes to Platinum games, I do not mind the PS1's display. All it did was replace the black areas with Silver. Just look at the PS3 platinums designs - Silver and Yellow - I can't think of anything more revolting!
Or what about these recent 'Essentials' line up for the PSP, they look like they should be displayed on the counter of a fast food restaurant like McDonalds:
As for the topic question, I don't buy movie or sports games (unless I actually want to play them, not collect them), but for that same reason I will probably never have a complete collection for anything.
Sports:
Dead Ball Zone (I class this as sports because it's the main element of the game, chainsaws and bombs notwithstanding)
Gran Turismo (I class racing as sports because they're both expensive and dull uses of time that could be far better spent)
Ridge Racer series (see above. Also, Ridge Racer was the very first PlayStation game released. Got to honour that, really)
Movie Tie-ins:
Street Fighter: The Movie (terrible, terrible game, but part of the Street Fighter catalogue)
Dragonheart: Fire and Steel (another stinker, but fairly uncommon and charming in its own stupid way)
The Crow: City of Angels (why do these all have a colon in the title?)
Kids:
Not many on the PlayStation, but Quackshot and Castle of Illusion on the Mega Drive are two of my favourite games.
Midas:
I have The Hunter for PS1 only because I'm trying to get all PS1 PAL RPGs (that's three acronyms in a row - how monstrously lazy). That wasn't really the intention, but then I checked the list on GameFAQS and found I had most of them, so I thought I might as well keep going. This mild success is a tragic marr on Midas's otherwise spotless record of complete incompetence.
Like Demo's & extra game content.
What's the most expensive game on NES?... a sports game.
& why is the most rarest game on the NES a sports game?
Because nobody cared & probably through it in the bin.

Yeah. I really hate FIFA so much, this franchise (along with COD) needs to die immediately! Because it's getting really annoying!
While Call of Duty has become somewhat a drag, I give a lot of credit to Modern Warfare (the first entry). The story in that game was like no other shooter I had played and it simply blew me away. World at War was decent and offered co-op, but MW2 stepped it up. From there on I haven't been much of a fan.
There aren't many (or any) games I consider junk. Simply because they all have something special about them. Probably the worst game I've played is Falling Star; what seems to be a female oriented RPG. The gameplay is so bad that I had to stop playing after 10 minutes. Beyond that I've found that I enjoy all the old sport games and movie based titles.
Various driving games I consider trash, especially those which are given annual releases (Need For Speed, I'm looking at you!). Aside from Forza and Gran Turismo, most driving games are crap, or don't compare. Some are better than others (the likes of Project Gotham Racing and Burnout), but others make you wonder why they bother when superior games exist. I personally have a hatred for the Need For Speed games which are the driving equivalent to FIFA titles!
Kids games. Some games aimed for younger players are fairly decent, and the likes of Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Rayman, Sly Cooper, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro are at the top end of the scale and provide an entertaining experience and challenge for older gamers. However, there's a clear distinction between a good kids game and a bad kids game, and the low end of the scale is full of crap, especially on the PlayStation, PS2, Wii, DS, and Dreamcast!
DS shovelware. You know the titles - The shite you have to wade through on every eBay page just to find one or two half decent first party titles. More annoyingly, Ubisoft are one of the prime culprits with their constant stream of Imagine games!
Last but not least, budget titles. The kind that Xed actively and proudly collects! I don't mind collecting the majority of 505 titles (although more than half are trash), but I draw the line at Midas or Phoenix games! Ironically, I received a heap of this trash as part of a bulk package deal I made a while ago, and they've been clogging up my trade box ever since! I even considered throwing them away at one point!
