  • Honestly bro, we're not trying to be negative towards you. I know when I first got into collecting, I got burned on some deals before I found this place. It's all a learning experience. I wouldn't take it too personally it's just that as a fellow collector, I don't want to see you get hosed on a deal. Like you said, we don't fully know the ins and outs of your relationship with the owner and all we're trying to do is prevent you from being taken advantage of. Without any other information, the deal doesn't look so hot to be honest. If he hooks you up and you're returning the favor, that's cool.

This community here is a great place to be and I've had more people help me out than I can count, be it something free and out of the blue to cutting me fantastic deals on things when people find an expensive piece much cheaper than you'd ever see on ebay. I do hope you stick around and try and find some of that same community around here and don't let our kneejerk reactions get to you too much. We're all in this together trying to help eachother out, that's what a hobby like this should be about but I worry that inflated pricing and the abundance of resellers is hurting that one simple thing. Don't misunderstand, we're not trying to be dicks and we're not hazing you, we just want you to walk away with a fair shake.
  • Yeah I think that was a misunderstading by me to be honest. I wasn't sure where to post and I saw something in the title that said picked up something you would like to brag about post here so I did. I just thought that the rarity of the game was worth posting.

I am guessing you are either talking about that or the mega mans in your post a little lost and I hope the best of luck to you when you are out hunting for that game!

Years ago I had it with the manual and the map, before people (long before) decided to create the fantasy that it's a super rare game and as such deserves tons of money thrown at it I got it at a retail used shop for $5 and it ended up being one of my most if not favorite vertical shooter for the SNES.  I'd love nothing more to have it back but not for the price it has commanded the last 2years at least.  I had to sell it because I had a bad patch a decade ago and unemployment ran out and then being paycheck to paycheck or less for 2 years I lost 80% of what I had for a collection and it went with it.  Not going to go into details, but it sucks and I wish I had it still, hoping I find it dirt cheap eventually like when I got earthbound last year as a cart for two bucks.

In the end friend or not the store owner fairly well broke you even so it wasn't a friendly trade, but both got what each other wanted so in the end it was a good day for either party.  I'd just let it go and be done with it and the thread, as what you earned isn't even up for debate as it's done and over.

I'll testify that John is a prick and not a friend. That being said, you and I have had some great dealings in the past and I'd like to thank you on here. I owe you for that Metal Warriors you got me for a fraction of the ebay pricing.

  • Hah yeah that was another one and I hadn't considered that. Joey there really needed a copy of Metal Warriors for his collection and I gave him a good price on it versus what it was starting to rock for on ebay or here at the time. He did a me a favor on a Syndicate SNES cart as I wanted to try it out and traded him some comics for it initially, in the end I didn't like it like the PC version so it went back his way for the value in comics, I wasn't going to mark it up as that would have been shitty.

I wasn't even thinking of that greedy marine and small child's mom predator John at GameAdx (this loser has an account on here, logs in but doesn't post under that name.) He's a dirty player with gaming, if you're local or he decides his antics cost him enough he'd need to try and peddle here this will serve as one of many warnings he's not one to do business with.
  • Thanks SamSpade! I didn't post this because of the deal I got and I think that's what most people were expecting. I was just trying to be nice to a friend that has helped me out numerous times in the past. He also knows that anything that says mega man on it that he is going to hold for me cause I want anything mega man and I also want a complete NTSC SNES collection. So in turn before we ever started talking about the game I knew his situation. Did I try and get it cheaper, yes but who wouldn't. All in all I did my friend a solid after numerous times he did me a solid

    Giggity!

Enjoy that Aero Fighters bro, It's an awesome game.
  • Yeah man it's all gravy here, theirs a bunch of guys on this site that are cool peeps all around. Retro gamin now is a gamer/collector/reseller thing and a mix/match of those 3 things. Def helps of your just for the gaming and not worrying about cost.

And when you are friends with real gamers its just about that 'gaming'.

  • You did each other a solid technically, values out there in the earlier post, you both broke even. He paid less for his stuff, you probably did on yours too, but had each party sold what they had to to get the value it would have leveled out. If he's willing to hold mega man games and merchandise and other little things for you to get first draw from it out of a retail establishment of all places you're good.
  • Thanks for the warning Tanooki! That's awesome you guys help each other out the initial impression I got was if you don't get a game for a dollar GTFO. So I was like woah that's not cool I thought this was a site about posting about Nintendo and games you get. For me besides my friend's game store I have to drive an hour to get retro games or buy on eBay so I take what I can get. Also I hate people that spam the hell out of there store or youtube channel. Yes there are resellers on here as well as youtubers, myself included as a youtuber not saying to check out my channel most Nintendoage people have a youtube channel just mentioning I as well have one but with no intentions on spamming just adding in, but is there a point really? So they make a couple extra bucks or get a couple new subs but you piss off a lot of people in the process.
  • Thanks Ravengamer!
  • Thanks punkr13! I do worry about price and everything cause lets be honest you see Stadium Events at a garage sale and the people are assholes you ain't gonna tell them its worth more than the 5 dollars they are asking, but its also about the game I am getting to me besides x3 and mega man 7 it has been the game I wanted most on the SNES.
  • man i lucked out when i got the megamans

i paid like 100-120 bucks (something like that), but i got mm1-5,soccer,7, x1-x3 for that price.

it has been the best game franchise series find i've had, and i wasn't the first person to see it at the store.

a buddy of mine that buys games called me up and told me they had that, so rush down and get them.

he's known I'm more of a collector than seller on games, because he's more of a 'sell anything i can' dude ( which is his job ).

i would recommend going to estate sales man, sometimes you can get some cool gaming stuff there too
  • Wow man talk about lucky! That's a great price for all of them. Unfortunately I live in a suburb of a military base so estate sales having retro games will be slim to none.

Yeah that is true but I also think of it like if I didn't say he was a store owner and did this for a friend, about equal value and helped a friend out there would be no problem and I also think most people aren't seeing that the trade wasn't for his store it was for his self. And for the people saying his profit margin think of it like this, if you bought a car for a dollar and the value of the car is 15 thousand you aren't going to ask 100 dollars for it lets be honest. I don't know what he payed for the lot, didn't ask didn't care.

Well I could have swore I saw somewhere that you gave him stuff that he wasn't getting stock of. Sounds like stuff he is going to sell, not keep. If somebody was selling a car that was worth more money than what they were wanting for it, then I would not tell them how expensive it is. Since he did not know what aerofighters was then he prolly did not pay that much for the snes games. Probably a 3rd of what they put them out for. I just feel bad that this was the one time where just letting the guy price it like normal would have prolly gotten you a better deal. And no just because I am responding to the op's post does not mean that my post is in any way negative. The people that think that are the same ones that say "haters gunna hate". Yeah where would this world be if that's how we thought?
  • You probably went to my YouTube channel cause that is where that was at. I helped him find some stuff at his warehouse but that is what friends are for. And haters gunna hate really? You do realise I am of that generation really late teen early 20s age group but I don't want to make an arguement out of nothing for no reason again

Did not go to your YouTube channel. You said it here. And yes haters gunna hate is a stupid phrase. That's what I was trying to say in my post lol ok? I'm of that same generation. Your point is? Haha
  • Only reason I say you saw it on my YouTube channel is because I left that part of the story exclusive to my channel because it is irrelevant to the story
  • Oh I thought I left that part exclusive to my channel lol sorry bout that. I guess I went to school where that phrase was more prevalent.

Did I help him out getting something he wanted from himself since he doesn't get new stock in, Yes. Did I get a game I have been dieing to get, Yes. That's how I look at it and I don't like being called stupid for something I am relatively good at. As anybody I am pretty sure it would cause frustration and it could be taken the wrong way. I was about to say I didn't get EVO and Harvest moon in trade by being stupid.

No bro lol. I saw it in this post. Did not go to your YouTube account lol.

But anyways. Good job on getting the game. It's tough to track down. And very fun too.
  • Thanks man! It's a really fun but really difficult game
  • OMG he traded stuff that you can can walk into a wal mart and buy for a game that you'll probably never come across in the wild ever. Man such a big deal in year or two he can pick up all the stuff he traded at a black friday sale for a 120 dollars replace his "loss" and move on. and oh yeah still have aerofighters in his SNES collection. Assuming he never gets a steal on CL or a yard sale for 3DS or something even better.
  • It all depends on whether or not the OP would have paid $350 to $400 for a copy of aero fighters to begin with.. If so, then good for you, you bypassed selling the consoles on ebay to then turn around and buy a copy of aero fighters at full price. If this is not the case, you got too excited by the game being available then and there, and kept tossing things into the trade until you were blindly in the $400 range.. In my opinion you are justifying this deal through a friendship.. Which shows more as an insecurity to readers such as myself..
  • Nice bump, missed this the first time around...I think the trade was pretty good and I would probably do it too, but it's a bit odd that you ended up giving him so much when you were the one who tipped him off to the value of the game. Forget what he paid for it - he literally would have sold it for 1/10th of the price if not for you telling him what it is. I definitely think that warrants getting a discount, and imagining myself as the seller in these circumstances I would probably be too ashamed to even look you in the eye asking full retail after that tip-off.
  • It's a fun game. I'd never pay retail to get a copy though.
  • Congrats bro!Although it sounds like your friend got a better deal out of it.But if his happy and your happy than I guess that's all that matters.

Think you need to check the actual price the game is worth.

200$ is a steal if you can get a copy for that much... I'd say closer to $300-400$ is a better estimate.

    Yep.

If I was in the same situation I too would've traded all my "modern" stuff for it as well, as those things will be infinitely easier to snag later then an Aerofighters cart would.
  • Maybe I'm the only one who misread this, from the looks of the original post, it looks like you traded 3 3DS systems rather than 2 and a CIB zelda ocarina of time GAME. I kept my mouth shut because I thought you got taken as well, but if it was for 2 systems and the game, that isn't so bad. However, as its been pointed out, most thinkthat game is only going to go up, but let say it stays flat, those systems will drop.
