Has anybody ever seen any European PS1 earthworm jim print ads or posters? Also wanted to know about any N64 ads/posters.

  • Adam, are any of those for sale?
  • No kidding. I would love to buy 1 or multiple drawings if you are willing to sell. Let me know. Also, how did you get this stuff?
  • I'm going to ask Doug TenNapel if those are real.

EDIT: If those are fake, then they are VERY CONVINCING FAKES.

Not fake. I've been a fan of this series for years.

I would say they are real, but I can't guarentee that. They look way too good to be fake.

    Omg. Those are amazing.

  • There is a Nintendo Power which uses the Big Wheeling level for the cover design. If you saw it and wondered WTF well now you know. That was once a part or at least an idea for a level of the game.

    Edit Nintendo power #83

Yeah. The concept art on the front of that magazine pretty well matches the drawing you posted. I saw a youtube video of some demo stuff for the 3D game. So much of it was unused. What a tragedy:

Do you know which nintendo power magazines have articles in or feature pictures of earthworm jim? From a quick search I saw 83 and 67. Any others?

the guys on Nintendoage are creating a database of NP issues now that the magazine has ended. I'd start there.

  • They were drawn by Mike Mietz... who was on the EWJ team! TenNapel just confirmed it and those are real.
  • I figured they were. Do you know Doug TenNapel N the Bit Gamer?
  • Not personally, no. I contacted him through Twitter.

The closest thing I've done with him is give him money for his Kickstarter.
  • Oh yeah. What kind of kickstarter? New video game, comic book, tv show, or something else?
  • It's over 300 pages from his sketchbook released for fans. You CAN pick one up, it's just going to be $80. (I paid about that and I get some production art, a page, the volume, nnewts bookmark, a signature, a sketch, and some other stuff maybe)

He is going to do a Volume 2, though.
  • So how do I do that? Any earthworm jim stuff in there?

You can send a message to TenNapel through Kickstarter or Twitter and hope to get it, I'm not sure.

Also, yes, there will be Earthworm Jim stuff. He also did paintings of Earthworm Jim for the higher backers.

  • I don't do twitter, but i'll consider it. Don't have 80 to spare now anyway.
  • Wish I would have seen that kickstarter project. A drawing done today isn't the same as one used in production of the game but at those prices I'd have gone for the largest package that wasn't sold out.

    Those are nice.

I would take one for sure but you really stretch the limits of the one-of-a kind aspect with this.
  • They are all actually original though. They are slightly different. I would pay just to get some of his stuff and support Doug in an video game start up. I would much rather buy stuff from the era though.

    For sure.

There just isn't enough original material to go around. So this is a good way for everyone to get ahold of something.

Definitely. How did you get so lucky to land your items? Is there a good story attached with it?

  • Those aren't mine, those are TenNapel's. Right from his Kickstarter.

It cost $120 or something for one of those. Not too sure.

I meant buyatari2's stuff. The original concept drawings.

  • Bump it up just to truly end the Kickstarter discussion, you can get a copy of the archives, but there's only 100 (so you better go fast) and it's only until the 31st. http://tennapel.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/the-doug-tennapel-sketchbook-archives-available-for-one-week-only/

Sweet. Thanks for the link. I'm going to have to find some money asap. I don't want to miss this. Is this kickstarter 1 or 2? Also, I could have sworn you said there were different sized packaged you could purchase. I guess not?

  • Not as of October 2012. Right now, it's just volume 1 for the people that missed it. Volume 2 is coming later in 2013.
