Beefed up the 3DS collection

This past weekend has been great for my handheld collection...not so much my wallet.

I picked up Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Professor Layton, Black 2, Skyward Sword, and Darksiders II all from Best Buy's President's Day Sale. Paid around $100 for all of them.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Battalion Wars I got from a local electronics/book store. Paid Gamestop price for Fire Emblem (wanted it badly!) and $5 for Battalion Wars.

The whole bottom row of Fire Emblem sexiness was all bought on release day of the respective items. The artbook is amazing!

All of these have been added to my never-ending backlog...LOL

Oh yeah, and Code of Princess and Cave Story I actually paid retail for!

  • Nice pick ups. The amount of good stuff for the 3DS is really pushing me towards buying one, but I just grabbed a Wii mini so I gotta play with that a bit first.
  • I have found Cave Story is REALLY hard to find outside of shopping online, and even then you are pretty much paying full retail for it even if it's used.
  • Nice! Are you going to open up the Fire Emblem 3DS, or leave it sealed?

You definitely need to get one this year There's still Project X Zone, Pokemon X and Y, Luigi's Mansion, Monster Hunter, and Animal Crossing. This is the year of the 3DS!

I'll let you in on a little secret...you've been PM'd.

I'll probably leave it sealed. I really planned to open it since my Zelda 3DS has been acting up, but eh idk. Doesn't really matter to me.

  • Any idea Why is the fire emblem for 3ds over retail on eBay? They are on the shelves here....is there a limited release or something?

No, but they flew off of shelves faster than any other game I can think of right now, and didn't restock for close to 2 weeks. Now that they have restocked though, those eBay prices are just left over scalpers.

  • Hell of a fantastic handheld haul.  3DS is my IT system right now, well over the WiiU and the PS3 has been a movie box since before the move sadly, really mostly since kiddo arrived over a year ago except for bursts here n there. I grabbed Fire Emblem today, still trying to grind out Tales of the Abyss and I know seeing a faq table of contents at 25hrs in I'm like 80% done I think. I really want that Code of Princess game too still and Kid Icarus I only finished up to first set of credits. By the way that Cave Story game on 3DS I see up there is fantastic too. There's just so much for that system in the little life it has had so far that there's more than enough to keep a normal person busy for quite a long while.

-- Well there's two arguments going on this one.  One says that Nintendo has been aggressively pushing their online download version of the game and shorted the shipments to help move that copy as it's more profitable.  The other argument says they f'd up and didn't ship enough.  I called NOA the other day, they acted clueless to the matter and tried to blame their distributor.  The thing is more and more stories show online that stores didn't get copies at all, partial pre-order fulfillment, full pre-order fulfillment, and the rest say not much for having just copies be there when they should have 2 weeks ago when it came out.  They are still out of stock most places and those that get it in get like 1-2 copies.  My Target (1 local one out of like say 6 in a 20mi radius) got 2 in stock so I had them hold one for me for a couple hours so I could get in there...and all the rest online showed no stock and no online orders.

I'll probably wait until the new Pokemon games. I usually pick up the newest Nintendo handheld when they drop a new Pokemon so I might as well continue the trend.
  • is Battalion Wars any good? I passed up on a disc only copy for a dollar.. :/
  • That fire emblem 3ds looks amazing! Makes me wish I had that instead of my standard blue one.
  • I love my 3DS -- Nintendo really lined up a strong set of software for the first 2 years. Still looking for Fire Emblem, Cave Story, Code of Princess, and Professor Layton -- you got lots of stuff from my wishlist!!
  • The 3DS is killing it right now. I'm embarrassed to admit how much I've been playing it. I haven't read a book in months because I can't put it down. I'm almost overwhelmed and I only have 8 games. With Monster Hunter coming out next month, I will have no life.
  • I'm doing the same, used to mess with the Kindle in the evening but for the last few months or so now I've been hitting the 3DS in bed in the evening before going to sleep. I've got many hours on Tales of the Abyss so far clocked in night play, love it, but want it over with too because I have Fire Emblem and I fear starting it I won't touch the other. I'm glad I could care less about Monster Hunter because it just goes too far into detail and depth with everything it's a turn off or I'd really be hosed.
  • Code of Princess should keep you entertained for a while.
  • Best Buy near me has Fire Emblem, had to snag. Granted it might be cheaper later but I am too impatient..now just need Cave Story
