Action 52 Genesis PCB Pics - Does anyone have them?

Hey guys,

Been searching (obviously not hard enough) for a picture of the Genesis Action 52 PCB. Can someone point me in the right direction? Or even take a pic for me?

Also would like to see some pics of the pirates of this cart (PCB's), or the "Brazil"/other variants.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • The original probably fills the whole cartridge (as it is a tall cart kind of like EA sized). The pirates are placed in regularly sized carts. I can't see a reason why the originals would be in such a large cart and not fill it. If your issue is you think somebody made a label and pirated the game onto a different board and put it in the same sized cartridge I would look at that. If it's a normal pirate, it's easy to spot. They have a cheetah on the front. That artwork is based on the nintendo version, not the sega.
  • All pirates I have come across are in regular sized carts. The ones I have seen on ebay have the Cheetah on the front of the label/box or just action "Action 52" written on the label in a JP style case.

I want to see pics of the insides to these though as I have found another variant I haven't seen much of. It is called MD 52 IN 1 and has sonic on the label. All the games are identical and listed on the back of the box in the same order. Only when you boot the game does it say "Action 52", this is not indicated on the outside or on the label. It is definitely a pirate.

I just want to see the PCB of the original and also maybe the one with the Cheetah on the front. My Action 52 for Genesis is sealed, so I was hoping someone had a cart only they could open.

    Thanks
  • Yeah. I don't own the game and don't want to. Obviously it is another pirate though. Regardless of what the PCB looks like you could find hundreds of the same pirate with just different labels. I don't really understand why it matters, but no big deal in showing you if I had one. Unfortunately, I don't. Good luck.
  • Thanks for your help.

The main one I am looking for is the official Action 52, the pirate would be nice to see as well. Just curious as this one may have a back story that I am exploring.
  • I tried to open mine up tonight, but despite using what I thought would be the right security bit (based on what little I could see inside the deeply-recessed screw holes), I think I stripped the screws. One side is somewhat loose, but the other isn't budging and I can't get a grip on it.

Making matters worse, I also dropped it in the process! -- but it still works fine.
  • Damn, well at least it still works. :/
  • I had the one with the Cheetah on the front. I am pretty sure I sold it to someone here but for he life of me can't remember who. Good to see you skylersz, did you finally open the 2600 HES box? Ha ha.
  • That's weird that videogamehunter hasn't popped in yet, lol.

A52 for gen could have adhesive or a perma-internal snap that holds the cart together till the sun goes supernova or The Home Depot cometh.

The one for NES is all like "don't open me! "

I'm here now, I would love to show you some pictures but I have no clue what tools I need to open this thing up. If anyone knows I be glad to send you some pictures.

Hey Flatulent walrus! Guess what?!? The box is still sealed. It is not even in the same state as me! I am planning to go get it soon.

PS: Stop giving out my family portrait to people!

Holy tamale! You have seriously broken the world record for longest time after receiving a box to time it is opened.

Ah darn it, you weren't suppose to find out.
  • I have one at home, loose cart only kinda thing, not sealed, I'll dig it out in the next day or so and take a picture (assuming the cart is easy enough to disassemble with out risking damage)
  • Thanks man
  • Sorry, I meant to respond earlier. I found my cart and looked, but I didn't see any screws to open it. I did see two, what looked like screw holes, but no screws. I'm assuming its glued shut? I don't wanna risk damaging the cart, so I'm afraid I won't be able to send pics. sorry man
  • Just got one of these carts (finally) and it does look like it's either glued or snapped shut.

Is there no PCB pic of this anywhere? I will keep looking while I decide on the best way to open this thing.

Update: Ok so those little holes at the back... there are no screws. Well at least not on mine. Looking closer it looks like the case is glued shut or at least those 2 holes are pegs which are glued/molded in. The middle of the cart will give but the sides won't budge.

    Still working on it.
