Is this the real life, Is this just fantasy?

  • Matrix, Scary, can't fool me!
  • I've pondered the concept of the void before.

It's pretty tough to imagine because even our concept of "nothing" tends to involve something.

A true void wouldn't be considered "space" anymore, because "space" is defined as something.

You would be beyond the edge of the universe, where no light could reach (because photons are "something").

The laws of our physical universe wouldn't apply, because our physical universe is defined by "something" as well.

This is basically the opposite of trying to imagine infinity. You might claim you can do it, but it's really outside our realm of understanding or imagination.
  • When you think about this stuff too mu\ch you get this:

  • Everyone has a soul / consciousness and lives their own life as I do

Yes - but I try not think about it

    You can't fool me
  • We are all a part, of the neverending story.
  • We're just a dream of the dreamer.

I envision nothingness all the time, but I think it's impossible to grasp. To be honest, though, nothingness doesn't bother me...

    That's not funny! ;_;
  • #1 Reality is singular. There are no alternate timelines, but there could be alternate dimensions. Most likely when you die, that it is.. existence is over, but it could be possible for other occurences. Anyone that tells you there are alternate timelines, or your in the matrix is a fruitloop. Time travel to the past is impossible, because there are several switches that would all go off at once, several of the switches can not possibly bith switch because they are preforming opposite functions.. therefore impossible.

#2 It is impoosible to properly envision nothingness, because nothingness can never exist, and nothing has never existed. If there ever where a nothingness then there could never have been something. The mere fact that your trying to envision nothing, means you are envisioning something canceling out nothing.

#3 I hate you.. I hope someone put real bullets in your lightgun and you accidently shoot your dog.
  • ^ timely you should mention #1, deeper dimensions have been mathematically proven (up to 18 of them so far), and the new particle accelerator in Europe should prove the existence of a few more in a couple more weeks, when they actually begin colliding protons.

Unfortunately, accessing them would be unlikely in our current quantum state. The way matter is arranged in the dimensions we perceive prevents us from interfacing with them. And, no, when you die - nothing happens to the quantum state of your "life force." You're still the same matter - the same stuff - just with little or no electrical activity. Particles passing in-between dimensions have nothing to do with electricity - in fact electricity is too "big" to concern such interdimensional particles.

Electricity has to do with electrons, which are composed of quarks. The "stuff" that makes up quarks (to some, strings, to others, smaller "stuff" particles) when collided with high energy (near to light speed) MAY potentially produce interdimensional particles. Even if you jettisoned your body into the sun at the moment you died, there wouldn't be enough energy for any of your matter to potentially turn into such particles.

    Sorry image

I like your #2. Confucious say - if one attempts to ponder nothingness, one has already failed
  • #1 I ment to say "that is it", instead of "that it is". As in once your dead your dead, but I was half asleep. Wasnt trying to relate the alternate dimensions with the life after death, but it does looks like I lumped them together. I belive in existence after death only through hope (not through any particular religion, I just dont want to acknowledge I will cease to exist!), but I know it seems sceintifically impossible.
  • Dan, deeper dimensions don't imply alternate realities. They imply more depth to our own reality that we don't understand or can't witness.
  • This is some deep shit, picks at your brain.
