I got a kiosk!
So I was working today (I own a Fedex Ground route), and while doing my stops, I drove past a house out in the country that made me do a double take. Out on this house's front porch was a big old N64 kiosk! I've never found anything remotely this cool out in the wild, so I pulled off and figured it couldn't hurt to knock on the door and see what the situation with it was. After all, it was out on the porch and obviously not being used or cared for.
So I knock on the door and speak to the owner of the house. I told him I collect old Nintendo stuff, and noticed the kiosk on his porch. I asked him where he got it from, and he said his brother worked in a store back in the '90s, and he got it from him. I asked if he was using it, or possibly interested in selling it. He goes, "Tell you what, I'll give it to you for what I paid for it."
"How much is that?" I asked. "Fifty bucks," he replied. Sounded good to me! I went in the truck to get my wallet, and found that I only had a hundred and a couple singles. I gave him the hundred and told him that if he didn't have change I'd understand, it was still a good deal to me. He told me that he didn't have change on him, but if I could come back later that day he'd give it to me. So I loaded the kiosk into my truck (moving some packages to make room), and off I went. It comes in two pieces, and damn is it heavy! It caught me by surprise. I went back later on and he had the $50 ready and waiting. It couldn't have gone smoother!
I stopped at my apartment on the way back, and lugged the freaking thing up to my third floor apartment. That was fun. I almost killed myself, but I managed not to ruin the walls or anything, and got it set up in our spare bedroom. We're already running out of space here, and my wife and I are hoping to get a house later this year, but I knew she would want to kill me for bringing this home. Luckily she was relatively OK with it.
To be honest, I didn't expect it to work right away. I thought it would need some work because God knows how long it was sitting on this guy's porch, and the metal portions of it show some rust, plus I had to clean it up pretty good with paper towels just to get the dirt and grime off. I plugged it in, though, and lo and behold, it booted right up. It had Mario Kart all hooked up and ready to play, so I played a couple of time trials to test it out. Everything works great, and it has the official monitor and everything. It's certainly not in mint shape, but for $50, I'm thrilled. Check it out!

Killer find man!!
I do believe this belongs in the "finders Keepers" thread though
And damn it, how did I not think of Finders Keepers haha. If a mod could move it, that would be great.
Congrats on the find!!
