Game Genie Help

Has anyone had a Game Genie that does not work.  I picked one up a while ago and it looks to be in great condition.  Unfortunately, I can not get it to work.  I have never used one before, so it may be my incompetance, but I really think it is broken.  I have cleaned the part that connects to the inside of the NES (yes, I am using an original NES) very well, so I don't think it is that connection that is causing the problem.  I have done what cleaning I can on the part that connects to the game, but not a whole lot to tell the truth.  I have not opened it up or anything like that.  I called the number at the bottom of the devise that says if you have any problems call 1-513-868-8835, but got ahold of some wierdo (that part was a joke, but I considered it).  Does anyone have any prior experience with this problem?

LOL!  I think I'll fill out my mailing form from one of my boxes and request some info from the game companies.

  • Mine works fine... I've never encountered one that I couldn't get to work. Might be a bad cart if you cleaned it well enough. I bought bonaza brothers CIB recently, and the cart is like new, but will not turn on no matter how many cleanings. I guess some carts just go dead?
  • I'd just replace it with another one.  I also have a Game Genie that cosmetically looks fine (even the board looks fine) so it probably is a chip thing.  The same thing goes for F117A - I have one copy that works great...the other copy still looks good, but won't play (must be a bad chip - the most interesting part is that the lockout chip on it does work as the system will not blink with the cartridge in)
