Anyone collect comics?

Just a random shout out to those who are in the comic collecting game aswell!

Personally I only have about 400 comics but some of them are kinda worth a bit (thanks to my mother for buying me sleeves for them back when I was a young lad)!

Also have a fair amount of X-Men and NBA cards from the early-mid 90's

Comments

  • I have very little domestic, a nigh-complete collection from Chaos Comics, and the full run of Vampi, everything else is Manga.
  • I used to have a lot of vintage comics but sold all the good stuff off around 2002 to fund the nes collection. Still have lots of quantity but not so much quality anymore
  • I have some old comics my dad gave me. They are not in the best of contdition, but they are still cool.. Superman retires.. judo master, old xmen, dr. strange, sarge steel, not brand ek (or something like that)
  • that would be not brand ecch
  • Just reminded me I have the Death of Superman run, and all the 'Funeral for a Friend' cross-overs.
  • I gave away all of my comics about 5 years ago. They were just getting in the way with all the moving we were doing. I collected in the early 90's - I'd gotten out of baseball cards by 92 and picked up comics, and the collection was what I accumulated between 92 and 94, when all of my money started going into Magic cards. (Either way, the local comic shop got my money)

So it was literally all worthless of course. I had a complete run of Surfer 3rd series, and a few spots of the original Kirby/Sinnott stuff from the 60's (my oldest was a low-grade #5). From that collection, the only thing I still retain a large b/w print of a promotional artwork that the shopowner I gave my stuff to let me have of his original.

The only other book I kept was the comic adaptation of the 1965 Peter Cushing Doctor Who movie, which is in my game room on display.

I don't miss any of it. Selling and shipping that stuff would have been like pulling teeth. Not because I was attached to them, but what are the logistics of selling delicate, worthless, overprinted pamphlets to people that bitch and moan about ever spine crease? Best move I ever made.
  • I still have about 400 comics back from when I was 15... 9 years later I still can't really part with them...
  • I used to have some Doctor Who comics that my dad gave me. They're probably in my old closet somewhere.
  • I've got comics coming out of my arse.
  • I still have a few, maybe a dozen or so from the 60's or 70's

beyond that, wolverine #1, lots of variant cover spiderman #1 (mcfarlane), lots of other random comics

  • i collect BC Comics anybody have any to sell....................

Yep I believe that's about what he paid for it when he acquired it. It was a thing of beauty, you could see Jack's pencil marks faintly in the background where he redrew some of his blots. Nuts.

Yep in fact I'm probably picking up a few thousand more this weekend, a show's coming through and the guys always like to lighten their load on me image

I want to make it clear, I pay bottom dollar. If you're savvy with eBay in any way and want what they're worth, you can do it yourself and try to get full value. Otherwise feel free to PM me.
  • i got a tabernacle at pendral vale for sale if you're intersested dangevin image rest of what i have left (i had power 9) is not for sale cuz its my last deck i have left image

Im sure its probablz worth a hell of a lot more than what he paid for it now.   Comic art by big names like that has gone through..the...ROOF valuewise the last few years

  • ^ reread what you wrote, I thought you wrote five thousand. That's all he paid for this piece image I'm sure he knows how valuable it is, and I'm sure it will never be put up for sale. That said, I know where he lives, and where he has it hanging.......
  • I've got a couple thousand comics from collecting over the last 15 years. I scaled way back, though, when I picked up this hobby. I only pick up about 40 comics a month now image
  • LOL. Im sure its worth a lot more than he paid as good kirby sinnott art has doubled or tripled even in the last couple years and it wasnt cheap to begin with. I dont really know what that piece would be worth todaz as I dont even know what it is... its clearly not a page or cover so it may be an unpublished piece or some kind of pinup. If it were an actual published comic page it would be worth a lot more. And even more if a cover... see this ff72 cover, fairly similar image... scroll down a bit... asking price will be way over 100k if the owner ever wants to sell

  • I collect currently Fear Agent month to month. I have a ton of comics from the 80's mostly spiderman, I have first appearance of the black costume. I also am collecting the intire set of Defiant comics that ran for about a year from 1995-96 I think. They were created by Jim Shooter Ex Vice presedent of marvel, who also started valliant comics which was sold out from underneath him to acclaim. You might have read his work on marvel secret wars
  • Yeah, original art for comics is unbelievably expensive. You could buy 2-3 complete NES collections for what some of those pieces go for.

Forgot to brag about some of my nice comics pieces, lol image I've got the first appearance of Wolverine in Hulk 180-182; death of Gwen Stacy in ASM 121-122; first Punisher in ASM 129; the original clone saga in the 140's of ASM; first black costume in Secret Wars 8 and ASM 252; and first venom in ASM 298-300. Lol, guess who my favorite comic character is. Not as rare or valuable, but I've got the first issues of Sandman and Fable, too. Currently I'm enjoying Secret Wars (although I'm like 2 months behind in reading, lol), and trying to slowly fill in my Sandman collection.
  • i used to collect amazing spiderman when mark bagley did the penciling for them, i also have a few signed comics by him and

a picture of spawn drawn by him. but now the only comics i buy are random ones i find in the 25cent boxes.
  • I've got the full run of Bone by Jeff Smith (though issues 1 - 6 are in a hardback compilation).

That's pretty much it, my best friend was way into comics and I always liked reading them, but never felt the need to clutter my floor with another collection (videogames and christmas lights pretty much took care of it).
  • I used to have ALOT of comics but I have no clue where they are. I have Spawn 1-70ish and the full Mcfarlane Spiderman run. Other than that just a few Ironman/Xmen comics from the 60's that are fairly worthless.
  • I collect graphic novels. Mainly Batman, but I am totaly in to The Walking Dead series right now. I also like Marvel Civil War. What's nice is they release most series in graphic novel form these days.
