I liked the zinger at the end of the Ripley walkthrough. The one with the mirror. That's all I'll say
Never believed in boogeymen or whatever, but I wanted to, I tried to make up monsters to scare me, felt I was missing out. I never even had real nightmares as a kid.
I figured out the Easter Bunny when I was around 9 or 10, I snuck halfway down the stairs while my mom had the TV on late and saw that my basket was full and saw an egg hidden nearby. Then the whole Santa/Easter Bunny/Great Pumpkin/Hanukkah Harry house of cards fell down around me.
^^^ Yeah, that part was hilarious. Ripley's is a great museum of oddities.
When I was a kid, I used to insist on keeping my closet door open at night because I thought monsters could only grow in there while it was closed. I had a low platform bed until I was 8, so I wasn't worried about monsters under the bed. The thing that really freaked me out as a little kid was the side-art on the Aliens arcade machine. I didn't see that movie until MUCH later, but I had nightmares about those aliens, all the same.
I found out about Santa when I was 9. I probably would have figured it out sooner, but for my 8th Christmas I got bunk beds, and went to sleep on a little platform bed and woke up on the top bunk of new bunk beds. It sure as hell seemed like magic to me!
I wasn't ever really scared of anything in my room but I was sure there was a dragon that was chasing me in the basement. If someone had come up behind me while I was down there I think I would have shat myself.
I figured out most of the holiday fakeness probably in 3rd or 4th grade. It made me sad to know the truth.
NGD ties me up sometimes
My family vacationed in Wisconsin Dells this summer (actually the weekend the tornadoes went through that area... that was fun). While we were there, the kids wanted to go to Ripley's, so we did. It was actually quite fun.
leave a message.....at the beep.....I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone.....where could I be.......believe it or not, I'm not home!!!!! BEEEEEEEEEEEEP
I thought there was going to be some sort of "Greatest American Hero" reference in here. Did you guys have that show in Canada? If so was it called "Greatest Canadian Hero"?
I dont recall ever being afraid of monsters in my closet/under bed. And I have never been to a ripley's museum but I have been to one. It cost to much to go in tho. Like $40 per ticket! Ya right, I'll just stick to reading the books!
Not so much with the monsters under the bed. But, I thought my stuffed animals came to life at night, and when I squinted at their shadows in the dark, I convinced myself that I saw them moving. So, that was pretty terrifying.

He's not REAL??? Noooooooooo! What there is no Santa Claus!!!
Machines will not takeover...
and I've been to the Ripley's Museum in Gatlinburg Tn.
I found out Santa wasn't real at 13, I think, though I had my suspicions long before that, I just never asked my parents about it before then.
I believe that it's quite possible the world will be taken over by machines one day... >.>
I've never been to a Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, and I don't ever want to.
Ralphie: [Screams continuously]
When I was a kid I wouldn't close my eyes in the shower or turn my back on the drain for weeks after watching "Stephen King's It"
Yeah, I can relate.
