I Got Mario Cart for Wii
My girlfriend bought me Mario Cart for wii for my birthday yesterday. Now, I'm not a big gamer, I really only play Rockband once in a while when me and my girlfriends get drunk.
I hear a lot of talk about Mario Cart. What all can you do with this game? Can't you unlock stuff or something?

This game rules. I havent had time to play lately but I will get back to it sooner or later. The online is just fun because we can race each other.

Well, I've been playing it for 2 days now, and it's fun. I have that WiFi hookup, but I'm not sure how to hook it up. I'll have to figure that out.
The one thing that pisses me off though, is there any way to block other people who are about to hit you with something? I'll be cruising along in first place, then outta nowhere someone will hit me with a shell or that stupid lightning bolt. It lets you know it's coming, so is there something I can do?

yes you can block green and red shells, by holding a shell or banana behind you...

It's also possible to dodge the spike shells if you're in first, but you have to be carrying a mushroom boost and use it with perfect timing.
Like nes king says, you can block by dragging shells or bananas. Also don't forget that you can throw items forward or backward, so if somebody is riding your ass you can hit them with a shell.

how do you throw the shells backwards?
Then, if you hold the down arrow when you release, it will shoot backwards...at least I think it does. It might just drop it statically on the track. Either way, if somebody is riding your tail they'll be hit.
