What do blind people do all day?
My brother and I were driving to the store when he mentioned he sees a blind person at a bus stop everyday when he's driving to work. What do blind people do all day? It's gotta be one of the hardest hardships out there. I mean yea you have your braille things you can do....but man it's gotta be tough. Of of my buddies said they jerk off all day. Thoughts?

LOL!!! I was thinking that but didn't wanna say it
Nah but seriously, thats gotta suck really bad. Theres really not much you could do except listen to music, carry on a conversation with someone, etc. I personally wouldn't be able to survive because I'm an extreemely visual person, so I feel really bad for those people out there who are blind.
Although, I saw an article somewhere about some blind kid who plays videogames?? Not really sure how that would work, but thats pretty amazing if he can actually play games based solely on the sounds!
O yeah, does anyone remember the scene from Dumb and Dumber with the blind kid and the parrot, dunno why but I cant stop thinking about it after reading this thread
He can play basketball, ride a bike in trafic etc cuz he makes clicking sounds with his tongue and sees with that like a bat uses his sonar
damn strange but very cool to see
there is a docu about a kid that had his eyes removed just after his birth due to eyeball cancer.

I heard about that as well! Pretty cool!
Ben Underwood
Diagnosed with retinal cancer at the age of two, American Ben Underwood had his eyes removed at the age of three [12]
When Ben came round from the surgery to remove both eyes when he was a child, he was crying, saying, "I can't see you anymore mommy, I can't see you," and his mother Aquanetta Gordon said, "You can smell me, you can hear me and you have got your ears, nose and mouth."
He discovered echolocation at the age of five. He is able to detect the location of objects by making frequent clicking noises with his tongue. This case was explained in 20/20:medical mysteries. [13] He now uses it to accomplish such feats as running, basketball, rollerblading, playing foosball, playing video games, and skateboarding.[14][15]
Though at first resistant to using a cane for mobility, seeing it as a "handi-capped" device, and considering himself "not handicapped at all", Ben was taught by Dan Kish how to utilize a white cane combined with his echolocation abilities to further expand his capability for mobility.[11]
Ben has used his talents as a springboard for a Christian evangelism ministry.[16]

fucking amazing
unless they are blind due to brain malfunction.. its usually eye-malfunction that causes the blindness
if you stimulate their visual center in the brain (back of the head) they will "see" colors
To answer the first question, he did a lot of listening. He listened to a lot of music, audio books, movies (they make special ones for blind people that add in extra narration when the visual is the predominant media), and he liked to be taken outside for walks so he could hear people interact, hear birds/animals, etc. He was also pretty intellectual and would have other intellectuals over just to talk for awhile.
Secondly, he experimented with drugs awhile back and never saw colors or anything, though he did get auditory hallucinations.
I always wondered if a blind person took acid could they see colors or objects?
Someone I know who has done acid a few times told me before that it was really difficult for them to shut there eyes since they'd be seeing more messed up stuff than they would be with their eyes open, so it'd probably be even better for them since it'd all be going from imagination and if you were blind from birth it'd all be stuff you thought up.
Probably be pretty fun.
I have hearing loss but thankfully I'm not totally deaf. I don't know what I would do If I couldn't hear or see. Its wierd, I was born with hearing loss, rather than having developed it, i can hear perfectly fine with my hearing aids, without them I'm completely lost tho
.
I cant even Imagine what It'd be like to be both blind and deaf, thats gotta be really wierd, I think its amazing how beople can still communicate with touch.
