  • That is box-set I always wanted to get before I stopped. People always ask too much for it on eBay, but $5 is a steal!
  • Never got one of these while I was collecting cardboard, but it's definitely one of the coolest in the Genesis library.
  • Very awesome, Maelwys.
  • This may be the very definition of a small score, but I'm really happy  to own it.  It really ties the room together.

You purchased the puck separately from the box-set it originally came in? Cool little collectable item either way, just curious. It would suit Genesis collectors and collectors of sporting memorabilia.
  • The pucks aren't related to the game. One is from their practice facility and the other one is from the 92-93 season and is signed by Bob Bassen. He was never a Brett Hull, but still a cool guy nonetheless.

I wanted the game at the time it came out, but my older brother said he played it on the SNES at a friend's house and that it sucks. It's not really any better on the Genesis. It's not the worst hockey game on the system, but it is close. What a shame, they could have had something there. Either way, I'm a Brett Hull fan so it simply had to be in the collection.

I just need Hit the Ice and one of the EA titles to have a CIB set of SEGA hockey games. Oh, and Mario Lemieux Hockey, but I'm still debating on whether I should get the one with the puck or just go the cheap and easy route.

You need the one with the puck.  You will otherwise feel empty.

  • Feast your eyes on this mint condition beauty (nevermind its missing hang-tab):

Picked it up from Amazon.com for $39.99 + $3.99 shipping. Amazon can be a real gold mine for CIB stuff sometimes when the person lists their CIB item at the same price as the lowest price item. I messaged the seller about its condition and he said it was the one from his personal collection, or that he was the original owner, something along those lines. Now I can sell off the other two mediocre condition ones in my collection and finally have a nice one to keep!
  • How much for said mediocres???

That looks brand spankin' damn new like a baby still covered in the afterbirth!
  • I got these at Goodwill today. I go into to this Goodwill once a month and never find anything so I was very excited to see all this stuff sitting there. Everything is in Near Mint shape so thats a plus. Oh and I paid $1.99 each for games and $2.99 for the Controller.

    image
  • since hang tabs are intact, i'm guessing those are as good of shape as they look in the pic?
  • The instruction booklets and cartridges are in phenomenal shape. They were kind of scattered around the VHS section but I noticed the hang tabs right away. The first game I saw was heavy nova and that's when I went crazy and buried through the whole Vhs section to make sure I didn't miss anything. Only reason I got the ASCII pad was because the cashier said there was a controller too. I went back and there it was. Didn't even notice it because I didn't see any Sega logos on the side of the box. Played me some Ranger X last night and man is it fun.
  • Nice, Goodwill around here charges $3 per game which can result in a bad deal with the over population of loose sports titles.
  • TCD, Ranger X, boxed asciipad??? Oh, you!

Good finds, it's getting harder and harder to find nice copies of things.

All the enthroned robber barons sit laughing on their cradle of valuable stock as their simple presence of nice manuals makes them a higher profit margin than 2 liter sodas.

Just a few years back, Taito and Rennovation titles going unsold minty CIB around and under $10 just because people were holding out for a buck or two

I still remember it like it was yesterday.. pulling up my watch list and simply going "oops" at games going for $50 CIB now, unsold for like a 10. Only a few years ago... I'm skurrt..

    HOLD ME.

I wouldn't want to pay any more for that particular asciiPad as that design for the MD doesn't sit with me well like sardines don't sit well in my bowels. Though for that price any boxed accessory is a celebrated addition.
  • I took a roundabout drive home tonight and stopped at some game stores and pawn shops along the way. Paid about $70 for all of these at various places. Not a stellar deal, but not terrible either. All are CIB and most are in excellent to near mint condition.

It's also official, I'm now collecting SMS too. God save my soul.
  • Bubba n Stix is a cool game and I love me a Trouble Shooter, although it's a little bit easy.

With the nice CIB Street Smart in there that's nothing to feel bad about spending on for the collection addition.

Also, funny how we all catch some sort of "I am now collecting this in addition!" disease here.

At least you didn't catch controllerAIDS!

Hey! It's the best AIDS one can catch.
  • nice score with trouble shooter.
  • Went to the flea market for the first time today oh boy! Exactly 0 retro games in sight. I did pick up an Otogi for Xbox (sega published!) which I've wanted for a while for $4 so I guess it was still worth going.

I also picked up some 3 ring binders at Savers for 69c a piece. Staples wants $8 a piece so that seems like the win for today. Screw the game.
  • Not really a small score since I paid the going rate but it was too minty and too complete to pass up. Now who has a hint book for me

  • in 2ish years i have never seen a sealed heimdall.  and now i got one!  price was kind of high, but i didn't feel like potentially waiting another couple years for another opportunity.  not to mention it's crackfree and shrink is pretty good!

in 2ish years i've only seen one other sealed black hole assault.  and it was beat to hell and wasn't worth owning.  but i have one of these now!  and it's in decent condition, too!

last week marks the most exciting week of my collecting history!

  • On the road for work again and decided to leave a bit early and zig-zag my way in, stopping along the way. I struck out at half a dozen places and then hit the jackpot at the last place. They had 10 games out and I grabbed a few. The guy then says they have some more in the back, so I ask to see them, thinking it'll be a box or something. He opens the door to the back room and I see a wall of boxed Genesis games floor to ceiling, probably close to 500 titles. After I picked my jaw up from the floor, I asked if I could just go back and browse and he said yes. It was awesome. The whole back of the shop was packed with games - everything you could imagine - boxed and loose, for all systems, on shelves from floor to 10' ceiling. None of it was priced. After about an hour of searching through the chaff, this is what I came away with. All in this ended up being about $100 - not a stellar deal but I can live with it.

Rambo III and Arrow Flash are CB; the rest are CIB. Conditions vary but are good to excellent for the most part - Sword of Sodan is a bit rough and Aquatic Games needs a replacement case. Liberty or Death is minty. Zero of course is the big score - paid $25 for it. I've half a mind to go back there on the way home and ask if I can look some more - I'm sure I missed stuff.
  • Nice score. Did liberty or death come with the poster? The manual in my opinion is pretty key for the game as it helps you figure out what in the hell is going on.

Not a steellar deal? Am I going to have to cockslap you!?!?!?!

These types of finds make me wish I wasn't living in tiny little box.

It does have the poster, reply card, and manual, which is massive. Aside from the fact that someone cut off the hang tab, this one in particular looks untouched by human hands.

  • Second day of good Sega luck. About $110 for these. Not a steal, but again, I can live with it. All are CIB and in good shape. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to find that Ballistic variant of Lost Vikings.
