For sale: Custom NES that plays like a top loader

I did this modification sometime back in 2007 and it's held up since then, it's a card edge connector mounted inside a toaster deck. Basically this unit provides the reliability of a top loader with the natural video/audio quality of a toaster. The cartridge is stable and easy to insert/remove, had I mounted the connector any deeper, the Nintendo would have had a death grip and removing games would have been difficult. When there's no game loaded the lid can be closed for a stock appearance. The Nintendo's exterior itself is in very nice shape.

I'm going to entertain offers on this since I have a lot of work hours invested in it and it's a unique piece. I've got a top loader I plan to do a composite video mod on it someday so this is a bit redundant. I've got too many video game systems lying around!

Happy to answer any questions and the deck only is for sale, no controllers or other hookups!! NO YOU CANNOT HAVE MY LITTLE SAMSON.

  • now thats pretty sweet. Does it suffer from the toploader issue of if you move it slightly while in play game freezes or is it just as sturdy and the regular non toploader shake that bad boy throw it on the ground etc and game still plays without a reset?
  • The system could probably handle a nudge or two without issue but it's not meant to be the diving board to a swimming pool. Er on the side of caution!

Haha, that made me laugh. Good mental image.
  • It looks like the edge from a game genie? Is it the whole genie or is it the connector off a game genie?
