WTB: SNES Case and Screwdriver?

Hello NintendoAge, I am a proud owner of a SNES; I love it, I love the games, the music, everything. But I do have a bit of an issue with my SNES. It's... yellow. Not just slightly yellow, this is perhaps the yellowest SNES in existence. Here's a bunch of my consoles, and clearly in the middle you can see the SNES:

Pretty yellow, huh? So my plan was to buy some retrobrite to fix it up, however, the buttons have browned, which no amount of retrobrite can fix.

Thus, I must purchase a new case (or at least the top half + buttons) and the proper screwdriver to alleviate this issue. Since you guys are pretty knwoledgable and/or may have these pieces laying around I'm asking you to help me!

Cheers,

Dan

  • What's your UV source for the retrobrite? I tried a blacklight CFL bulb but I found that sunlight worked better. Some people were recommending some sort of reptile bulb or something I think, maybe that would work better?
  • I don't really know yet, to be honest. However from what I've read online it doesn't fix the browning of buttons because it can't restore the original purple colour, which is why I would rather buy a new top half for it, not to mention there's a small chip at the back that is destroying my OCD.
  • what is this Retrobrite you speak of?
  • It's a compound you can mix/buy and you sink your yellowed snes case in, expose in uv light for a few hours, and let dry, and it removes the yellowing. Only works on yellowed cases, not browned buttons though D:
  • I have heard that oxyclean powder and peroxide will get the yellowing off.
  • .......
  • Sell it to a hipster as a limited edition gold version.
