Boxed Punisher Repro on Ebay

I was looking on ebay for a Punisher manual to complete my boxed copy and look what I found:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/THE-PUNISHER-SEGA-GENESIS-REPRO-BOXED-GAME-NTSC-megadrive-/151041066285?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item232abfc52d

He stright out admits everything is a repro. How do I report his auction for selling conterfit goods?

  • At least it dosen't look like the real deal like some of thoes MUSHA's. Still bad mojo for sure!
  • For those that have more money than sense and can't recognize it right off the bat as not being original, the guy straight up states in the auction that it's not authentic.

Seriously, if someone viewed that as somehow being devious or unethical to the point they need to go out of their way and report them to ebay, how can you stomach looking at buy/sell section on this forum?
  • This Is not so bad to me as long as it clearly looks like a repo then you should know what your getting. But I agree bad for the hobby, if you wan't to just play the game use your PC or get a EVERDRIVE what's the point of buying this repo?
  • The point might be: People like physical carts, they don't like flash carts. Flash carts feel inauthentic.

Besides, reporting this guy just hurts everyone, don't do it.

Whenever people go around in a frenzy reporting repros, eBay starts getting heavy handed, and deleting listings (and banning users) who use eBay to sell carts of their own homebrewed efforts. That's hurting people who are legitimately trying to sell their work.

I'd rather ignore a repro that is very clearly a repro, if it means a homebrewer can sell their stuff easier.
  • I support the report. Though this guy is being honest who is to say the buyer will be honest when reselling. I really hate to think some day i won't be able to figure out the real from the fake. I'm not going to harass people about it. I'm basicly done collecting and i'm just enjoying my collection. I hate to think sega will turn into nintendo.

How could anyone not be able to tell that isn't original? This isn't some Neo Geo counterfeit that you have to view the PCB to check solder points and break out a magnifier to check DPI print quality of the manual.

I don't see how the "well the initial seller is honest, but who knows what will happen when it gets in circulation" logic applies to this or most any MD related circumstance. Very rarely do situations come across where a counterfeit product actually looks legitimate to anyone with even the most tiny amount of experience in MD collecting.

Reproductions & counterfeits exist in any collecting hobby and the vast majority are a hell of a lot harder to tell than MD carts. I would hope that if someone's plonking down in excess of $90 on a cartridge, even if they are completely new to the hobby, they would at least know what the product looks like.

My apologies. I thought this was that Truxton manual thread. I didn't look at the title or the original posts. This I don't really care about as much though it wouldn't be hard to put it in another shell and print a new label. Until somebody finds labels that look like the originals though, I'm not worried in any way. It's the paper stuff I don't like to see reproduced to original specs.

QFT. This label and case insert are so drastically different that If a buyer thinks it's authentic then they didn't take three seconds to do their homework. Caveat emptor, fools and their money, etc.
