Finding Nintendo stuff outside of Ebay

Hey everyone, just wondering what are some good ways to find NES stuff outside of ebay, and also outside of flea market, or craigslist. I feel like I have exhausted these resources around me locally and am looking to expand. I have heard about finding warehouses of old nintendo stuff like eb games having stockpiles of this stuff because they don't sell it anymore. If anyone is affraid of revealing a secret, I am only doing this stuff locally, and I am in Chicago. So if you are outside of there, I won't be taking away your gold mine. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

  • eBay, trade forums, craigslist, and places locally (thrift stores, pawn shops, yard sales, etc) are the only places I know of to get NES games.

I've exhausted all the local stores in my area also. Occasionally a thrift store near me gets some new stuff but not often. I'm pretty sure EB Games and GameStop had all their NES, SNES, and N64 stuff sent to a shipped to a few select stores where it was recently sold for 75% off just to liquidate everything.....it would be interesting if they have a warehouse of this stuff, but I doubt it. If I had a secret to share, I'd let you in on it.
  • My only advice is to check out the internet for other gamestores, countries, etc. I've come across pretty rare items just sitting in a newly set-up on-line gamestore that had yet to be discovered. There's lot of online game-stores starting up in the past few years, and most concentrate on other systems, so when there's a NES rarity in their catalog, it tends to be cheap image
  • Heres a good place to find stuff. I belive Nick has a ton of nes games for sale along with many others.
  • Hey well I am basically looking to find stuff for resell, you know the old buy low sell high thing, and I am looking for a new source, the buy low, and then the sell high would be ebay, or even here. I think pretty much everyone knows the value of this stuff on this site. But don't think I'm in it just for the money, I love all this stuff which is why I sell it, and I can basically play anything I want to. Anyhow, I have asked some of these guys at the flea markets where they get their stuff and they will never say. One guy who used to sell NES carts stopped and I asked him, he said he wasn't getting enough money for them, and when I asked him if he could give me his source for that stuff he said it was "Top secret." So it makes me wonder, where do these guys get this stuff? What is their source, and how do I find it? Because there are a few guys at the flea markets who have old Nintendo stuff every single week. Some of them seem shady and very reluctant to say where they get it, which makes me think it may be stolen, and I don't want to stoop to that.

Also another possible source of this stuff would be from storage units. I have done this before where you go to storage auctions, basically people don't pay their bills on storage units and they go up for auction, and the winner takes everything inside. Some of the guys at the flea market who have random stuff (I know these guys do storage auctions) have NES stuff from time to time. Not related to video games but once I did a storage auction, won a lot, and found a Swiss clock which sold on ebay for over $500 plus two sets of china which I got several hundred dollars for, and I only paid $50 and got a ton more stuff.
  • you ever try estate auctions
  • Oh yeah, I've done garage sales, and church rummage sales before, what exactly is the difference between a garage sale and an estate sale? I tend to picture an estate sale as some old person croaks and somebody sells their old stuff. Where could I find these?

I think the prices on my stuff is pretty good, because I'm trying to clear it out mostly, but I wont just GIVE it away. If you're looking to buy for resale, then you probably want to shop locally and hope for a good find. Let us know if you find anything.

  • yes estate auctions are usally when a older person has died. but there are also regular auctions. my mom found me a whole box of boxed nes games at a estate auction.
