Sir Abadol - NES Homebrew

A group called the Mojon Twins have released a new NES Hombrew called Sir Abadol that plays like a Ghosts 'n Goblins, Super Mario Bros. hybrid. I've only played for about five minutes, but it's pretty fun! Best of all, it's free, so check it out! I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet.

It was released yesterday, maybe that's the reason.

Anyway, it's a cool little game. Also nice to see more games written in C.
  • Very cool little NES game... thanks for the heads up.
  • Neat. Can't wait to try it.
  • I am talking to them, they will "may be" release the carts themselves.

But if not, I'm on it on the license

  • You should change that to AbaBol.

I changed that for Dain. Thanks for catching it.

Hahaha, whoops. Sorry, guys! I've been reading it the wrong way this whole time. Weird.
  • Cool game but the music could be better
  • Thanks for sharing! Looks like I've found what I'll be playing tonight.

  • I wanted to test this on real hardware(PAL NES) with the powerpak and it worked.

This is just a basic gameplay video for everybody interested in the game.

But isn't Famitracker an incredibly useless program when it comes to make music for NES games?

Also NintendoAge - Complain about something, Fix it yourself

Nope.  I use Famitracker for both music and sound effects for my games!

Same here. With the plugin system I originally added to Famitracker, homebrewers are now enabled to use Famitone, Shiru's engine, or my engine, called SoundEngine. There are pros and cons to each engine. The thing I like best about mine is being able to export volume, pitch and duty envelopes along with the rest of the song. Makes the workflow very easy. Which one are you using out of curiosity? I haven't been too good about getting the word out about SoundEngine, but a couple of folks are using it I believe.

  • I used Shiru's sound engine, mainly because it's the first one I tried and his instructions were really easy to follow. I'd love to try yours sometime as well.
