Rule Clarification on FT threads

Currently the rules limit offerings to video game related items, stating ~90% of items should be related. Is there a limit to what can be requested in a trade though? Would someone be allowed to list their games in a FT thread and ask for non-video game related items in exchange? It seemed a bit unclear between offering non-VG items and requesting non-VG items. Offering seemed to be covered in the FAQ, while requesting was not.

  • You should look at wanting an item and selling an item as the same thing. If you are listing games for trade feel free to ask for what ever in return as long as it fits within the guidelines of "acceptable non-VG items"

Members may offer non-VG items within threads they feel may be of interest to other members, so long as the thread contains a majority of VG-related items (90% or more).  Acceptable non-VG items include: DVDs, CDs, Toys, computer gear, books, games (non-VG). If unsure, please ask a moderator before posting. Please note that we have a Community Garage Sale quarterly that allows you to list non-VG items.

edit: just updated that rule to be more specific about offering items / requesting items.  New wording:

Members may offer or request (for trade, want to buy/trade) non-VG items within threads they feel may be of interest to other members, so long as the thread contains a majority of VG-related items (90% or more).
