  All the game boxes I have for Japanese Gameboy games measure 12cm (~4.75") tall, 9.5cm (~3.75") wide, and 2cm (0.78") deep.

  Since this is an old thread, I might as well add to it and point out that there are at least four GB box sizes in Japan. Here's some rough measurements I took for each:

  • Height - 9 cm
  • Width - 3 cm
  • Length - 7 cm

  
  Small box:

  • Height - 10.5 cm
  • Width - 2 cm
  • Length - 9 cm

  
  Medium box:

  • Height - 12.15 cm
  • Width - 2.25 cm
  • Length - 9.75 cm

  
  Large box:

  • Height - 16 cm
  • Width - 2.5 cm
  • Length - 11.5 cm
