Factory seal or re-seal?

Any experts out there can tell me if this is a legit factory sealed game or a re-seal?

  • I just got this from Ebay. The crack on the back seen in the second picture has me worried. How the hell could this happen if it was really factory sealed?
  • Well the thin plastic doesn't protect it from being dropped and cracked, but I wouldn't bet money on it being factory sealed. For your sake I hope you bought it to play.
  • I already have a copy. I just wanted to have a sealed version of the game for my collection. I have copy of PSO V2 that I know is factory sealed because I bought it when it came out and never got around to playing it. The seal on that game seems higher quality then the SoA one. That and the crack got me wondering.
  • A factory seal is often if not always more tighter than the seal in the pictures above.

You think so?  I dunno.  Being a noob around here I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but I've found that CD-based games in the jewel cases are often in that wrapped and folded plastic like you see above and not the shrink wrap type stuff 16-bit games came in.  Of course before even seeing a supposed sealed copy I always put a 75% chance on it that it's fake, but I'm just saying I've seen games at a lot of toy stores, etc. that package them just like that.  You can go to Best Buy right now and find CDs packaged in that exact manner.  Sealed games are too rich for my blood though so I stay away just in case.

  • That's an original seal. I bought plenty of PS1, Dreamcast, etc games that looked like that when they were new.

As for the crack, jewel cases are fragile as crap, and seeing a damaged one still in shrinkwrap is pretty common. Longbox ones (like Sega CD and Saturn) were even worse. Hell, I remember digging through a shopping cart full of Sega CD games back in the day and nearly all of them had broken cases.
