Just Fixed my Sega CDX OCD Issue :P
A couple years back I scored a Sega CDX with a bad LCD
(more info can be found here http://segaage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=42&threadid=50389 )
I got a little ambitions this last weekend and decided to fix it. Since I posted that original topic, I fixed a few Game Boy Screens by running my hot soldering iron over the flex cable that connectes the LDC to the main board, and figured this would be the same idea. I was a bit bummed out when I opened my Sega CDX and saw there were no such cable exposed
One other issue I had was there was no (as far as I could find) guides on how to take apart a Sega CDX which had me a lil worried when I started this. But luckily I was able to find a YouTube video that help guide me to opening the system, and due to a diffrent language, I had no clue what the guy was saying, but I got the concept by just watching.
So anyway, back to the problem, I got the CDX opened and notice there was no flex cable I could run my iron over to help reflow the connections
Whats inside instead (wish I took pictures, but my Cam was at work and my cell was dead, and I wasn't that motivated to stop the repair and go charge it up) was a small plastic pillar the LCD sat on, and coming from that were about 10 metal legs that were about 1" or so long, running from the LCD to the Main board. figuring what the heck, I assembled the CDX boards together making sure I had a peice of card board inbetween the main board and the cd drive board, and powered the unit on. The LCD issue was present still, as I hadn't done any thing yet, while it was on, I touched the tip of my Iron to each leg and gave it a moment or so to heat up the leg. and HOLY COW! it fixed my issue! ^-^ reflow accomplished! and now my Sega CDX displays the track numbers perfectly! w00t!!
This is more of a Bragging/Excited post, but I also hope this helps someone some day

Thanks!
I found this, http://www.multimods.com/CDX.html but not much of a guide
Correct website. You need to click the FAQ link within the text though. 4.1 addresses how to open without damaging.
