Just got the Genesis model 3

So I just got a model 3 Genesis. I am wholely impressed it! I have pretty much heard nothing good about them, but the build quality is good, the video and sound isnt terrible and its so compact! Overall I like it I know its not the best but its far better than the reputation it has.

    I finally saw my first one at a fleamarket last year, paid $3 for it, I kinda like it to, minus the no sega cd part other than that its groovy!

    There are pros and cons. It was the first system i ever purchased. Main cons are lack of compatibility with cd and 32x. My personal ain con was the system is too light. You can pull it off a shelf or freeze a game with little to no effort. For pros it is compact, has good sound and GREAT video. Worth owning for the casual sega gamer. If you are really into the 16-bit sega era and put a lot of time into it, i would definitely suggest other systems. My favorite is definitely the cdx. It is about the sae size yet has cd and 32x compatibility with weight to it so it doesn't get jerked around. They are a bitch to mod but a great base unit.

    Totally agree my cdx is my prized possesion!!! I own the cdx, model1, model 2, model 3, 32x, and nomad. Got the genesis 3 just for the collection but was relly impressed with its quality it defintely has the bes composite video quality.

    Sounds like next on the list is the x'eye. If i had one, i would neptunize it yet have it look stock. Imagine a genesis, 32x, and cd on 1 power supply with maybe an s-video mod. Sexy. Maybe i'm mistaken though and your next console is a aiwa mega cd, a pioneer laseractive cdl-a100, a teradrive, or amstrad mega pc. Just keep on sharing the enthusiasm for your new goodies and i'll enjoy your posts.

    I really want a model one sega cd I had one and it broke down. I plan on geting my model one neptunized i would love a model one sega cd to go with it. They looks so good together. I truly miss that setup.

    Have you considered just getting your model 1 cd repaired? What was wrong with it?

    I still prefer the early HDG model 1's. The sound upgrade alone warrants the purchase.

    I love my model 3! I got one complete awhile back, and since i got it, its what i use to play my genny games because its so compact! Now im just waiting for my Retron 5

    Yeah the person I bought it from tried to repair it and could not so I got a refund and just went for a cdx instead. I am still looking for a really good deal on a model 1 cd.

    Good luck on that. People are chargin an arm and a leg for them. Those who own working ones never seem to let them go for cheap.

    My favorite thing about the model 3 is that it plays all of the imports that I have no problem, no modifications needed. I heard there are a few imports that don't work with it, but I have not ran into any problems yet.

    Just got a model 1 for 60 bucks and it came with a model 2 genesis and two controllers!
