I actually think it's a plug to allow another adapter to be used with it, although I don't have a schematic to double check exactly what connections it makes...although the places by the RF may be the sound, although I think it hooks up to the rectifier, possibly. I can't really tell what the green thing is....it hooked up to the PCB or just the green thing floating wherever it is?
Ah, got it. It may be the output for the RF/Whatever it uses (Pal console?) I'd say it's possible it's for headphones then...I'd plug a cheap pair in, too, and just see what happens.
headphones do not fit ! It looks more like a broken switch. Just got the console working again (white screen )The console comes from an old videogame store.
That's funny! I saw a weird PAL Mega Drive (Genesis in 'Murica) with 2 red switches on the front. The store owners had no idea of what it was, but the base of the switch looked exactly the same, so definitely a switch. No idea what it does though... If you could show the other side of the board and show where the soldering goes, someone may find it out! Also, it may be some PAL-NTSC mod.
The Soldering on the other side seems to go to the lockout chip area. My brother picked this up with 53 games and 20% of those where ntsc. So that could be a clue :-)
If this is a PAL-NTSC mod i have another question.
Why would you mod it with a switch? It seems like a lot of work . Soldering and placing a switch why ? Just remove 1 pin.
Some people believe that certain games won't work unless a lockout chip exists. I've never had this problem.
Mostly cause this was true for some snes games, some people are overly cautious.
Actually I believe the NWC cart relies on the lockout chip to some extent and won't work properly on a toploader because of this. (had something to do with how the lockout chip handles the initial start up reset) This doesn't apply to the repro carts though.
edit: should mention that clipping the lockout didn't affect it iirc, just that it had to be there.

But from seeing the inside, it looks more like a broken toggle switch. Where do the wires go?
