U.S. NTSC NES in Netherlands - best way to power it?

Hi all,

Can I use a european power supply on my NTSC NES, or do I need a stepdown converter or other 'go between' device? I'd love to hear from someone who knows for sure, I did a forum search and only found topics that ellude to using one.

Thanks..

  • You can use the EURO adapter. I know multiple guys who own (a nstc )Nes and they`ve done so for years with an euro adapter without any problems.
  • Use the Euro adapter! Works flawlessly, been using it for almost a year! Congrats on buying an NTSC NES! That's a great investment
  • I've also been using an adapter from a PAL NES for ages, so you can feel safe to use an european power supply with your NTSC NES. All that the console sees is 9 volts AC, both the european and NTSC adapters provide the same specs.

You can even feed it DC and it will work.

True, but avoid doing this with a system that only takes DC (such as a Master System). You can fry it (almost learned it the hard way), but as long as it takes for example 9V AC, you can use any corresponding adapter

Yes, it's definitely a bad idea to get into habit of shoving whatever adapters at every system. Famicom also uses DC so its another one that can be easily fried by a wrong power adapter.

  • huh, never knew that, I always thought the thing would blow up.
