Haha thanks dude, they sure do! I was never really looking out for them until I realised that I had a few of them already now I want them ALL!!!!!! I also have one of those Double Packs that are hard to find, I think I paid about $5 for it so it was quite the bargain

  • Shame you didn't get mine as I had good majority of them. Australian kids must not have taken good care of their games as it is rather difficult to find these in great condition.

That is an epic collection! Does the Sonic and Knuckles always come in that big VCR style case? Also, why are the Batman Forever, Lawnmower man etc in this lot (as Aus exclusives), is that because they used the Genesis Covers and covered them with Mega Drive stickers? I think I have that Rugby League Game too, I guess it makes sense for it to be an Aus game!

    haha thanks heaps man!!

With Sonic and Knuckles, I think just for the Platinum Collection it did.

Yeah pretty much, Roadshow Interactive distributed copies of Batman Foreve here, and in some cases done it in a dogdy way like that haha. For Lawnmower man and RBI Baseball, Ozisoft released them in dodgy ways like that too lol (by using Genesis style covers and manuals, but with MD printed instead of Genesis (probably to save money).

Yeah the Rugby League game is so awesome haha, and indeed! I think this cover is better than the standard Euro PAL as well lol

That is good to know about the Batman Forever game as I have both the normal PAL cover and the genesis version (with the MD sticker) I had it in my things to sell as I just thought I had a crappy double of it ha! Will pop that back on the shelf!

haha yeah man you definetely should! If I have variants like that I would keep them too

Btw that kind of release was Batman, was done for Judge Dredd too. Roadshow Interactive also distributed copies of them here and put a MD sticker over Genesis covers too. So keep an eye out for that too!

By the way, have you got a 'To Sell' list? Because I would be interested to see what you have if that's all good?

  • Here is a pretty decent list to go by when collecting Australian stuff:

I usually just sell off any doubles that I may get every now and then, it's almost always the same games too like tha SOnic games, street fighter and Mortal Kombat, games that everyones owned. If I do however get any doubles of expensive, rare or aussie releases I can let you know

That is awesome, thanks a lot for that! I wonder why I have never seen this site before

  • No problem. I also have this site in my favorites, but I think it one of the first results from Google:

    http://www.perfectconversion.net/md-variants.htm

I had thought about trying to collect some of these Australian variants and did a lot of poking around. In the end, I sold off all the ones I had except for the ones in my Sonic collection. Very cool stuff, but too expensive for a foreign collector. The shipping fees on every single game would be killer, and its not often that Australian eBayers use the auction format. It is almost always BIN. The good thing about AUS eBay is that it is small and you can easily look through all the new listings in no time at all.

Andrew, if you have a Big Box Vectorman, or if you have any way to find one, I am very much in the market. It is the last Australian variant that I really care about. I kick myself for not buying Dane's copy. His was CB and I wanted to get it CIB, but now its been probably almost a year and nothing has turned up.
  • ^ that is a really cool page but I think they're missing quite a bit. I am sure there are almost if not double that amount of Double Packs, I think I had more than what's listed there.

Ahh yes, I have often turned to that site for reference!

Yea, its a shame about all of the shipping costs, anytime I have a double to sell I chuck it up with a low auction start like Dane does, i really don't like people who put up those expensive buy now prices!  I've only ever had one person from overseas buy a game and it was Phantom 2040, I think it went for about $40 and the postage was about $20, she must have really wanted that game

I've never come across one yet, do you (or Dane if he's reading) remember what his one went for? Those VHS cases are a hard to find now, the only VHS case I have I came across by chance in a big lot of games I got for quite cheap! If one does appear I will make sure to announce it on here!

  • Dane never listed it on eBay. As I remember, a guy made him a large offer on say 20 games, one of which was Vectorman, so it was sold within that bundle.
  • ^ yeah a guy offered me around $500 for some of my Aussie variants. I remember thinking it was far more than I originally paid for them so I jumped on the chance and sold them off to him.

    Haha that is awesome!

  • Most annoying thing about being an Australian IN Australia and collecting Australian variants is when you really want one and it shows up on eBay but it's being sold by someone overseas who is asking something silly like $100 because to them it is more desirable being that it is "foreign".

Yeah I have seen that a couple of times, it's pretty rediculous. I really despise people listing titles with rediculous buy now prices, a lot of times people actually buy them too which is a shame. I think thats the main reason why they have gone way up in price lately, people just pushing and pushing to see how much they can get.

ahh ok fair enough then, and yeah man that would be heaps great! Thanks for that and I'll make sure to do the same!

  • I received this in the mail today, I got it with a bunch of other games and am curious about this version of X-men 2 as I have never seen or heard of a Pal version with the Genesis cover/manual/cart. I know that there are a few PAL collectables like this such as Batman Forever, Dick Vitale, Judge Dredd, Kawasaki Superbikes, Lawnmower Man, Red Zone where all have the Mega drive label slapped over the Genesis Label but never an X-men 2 one. Any info would be great

  • looks like it was a cut up cardboard genesis box with a MD label slapped over the Genesis one
