Help Identifying this Phantasy Star II
I recently picked up a boxed copy of Phantasy Star II on eBay thinking I finally found the Canadian variant. When the game arrived I quickly realized it was not and something diffrent entirely. My question is if anyone has any more info on this variant and if they possibly own this if they could post pics of the cart & manual front and back. I would like to find out more about this and how all of it's inserts originally came, I know from this eBay listing ( 261234375172 ) that the manual is unique, but I don't want to assume that this map and Hint book are the original, though most likely they are. It does look as the coloring on this map seems a little diffrent then the original but it's hard to tell. I assume that this is a classics release as it's exsistance is mentioned on the Sega Classics insert with Joe Montana. The easiest way to spot these out is the lettering underneath the Genesis Logo includes 16-Bit Cartridge and the grid pattern is much tighter with smaller squares, I also noticed the paper seems thicker not quite as heavy duty as a Namco insert but somewhere in between. The front cover of this Variant looks exactly like the Canadian variant, the only difference is the back side. The UPC is diffrent and unlike the Canadian variant the text and pictures have a boarder around them. Any info would be appreciated, this also brings to question if this exsists does a Classic version of Phantasy Star III happen to be floating out there and did Michael Jackson Moonwalker ever see a Classics release as seen on the ad insert? Who knows I didn't know Joe Montana 1 had a Classics release till recently (thanks Maelwys!) these could be floating around out there.

I just went through all of the PS III's on ebay and didn't see any difference in the box art. Not sure how to tell if you have the 'Classics' version or not.
Great eye, and good info.
That's awesome! (and slightly depressing, now that I know I need to buy two copies)

Thanks Buddy! Well whatever you do don't spend $85!
I can defiantly can confirm that the map has slightly diffrent coloring, also included pics of the manual. You'll notice the print quality is slightly less quality for the variant manual. I think the cart I recieved is the standard release though, the eBay auction that I have posted in the first post has a picture of the cart and it seems the grid pattern is slightly tighter but hard to tell. I will include a zoomed in picture here of the copy on eBay and a standard release side by side. Looks like I still need a cart for this!!
Anyone else have this variant? I would like to compare to check the completeness of my pieced together copy.
