Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Netlink Edition: Picking up steam!
The Sturns hardest to find title Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Netlink Edition has seen a lot of action over the past week. One closed for over a $1000 and then 2 others moved right after it for over $900. The last sale before that was around $400 and one that was disc only for around $300.
It's good and bad news when one of these games finds it's way to market for a big price. Tt drives more copies into collectors hands but an an increased cost.
Do you guys think we will see more copies surface and if so will the price trend up or down?

I don't follow your comment. This game presumeably has the ability to use the Net Link and connect to the internet, which would not have been possible with the original release. You are paying for a separate release with the capability to connect online. Then as other factors to add to the value are the additional Net Link manual supplement. From my understanding, the back insert and manual are the same as the original release. In addition a truly complete copy would likely have some additional inserts. The complete copy currently listed for $1900 has one insert that is clearly about the Net Link and while the other two inserts might be more generic, I don't follow Saturn well enough to know if they came with the original release of Daytona.
We understand your personal aversion to collecting high priced items, but in this case its not simply some cardboard.

I sure hope the price goes up. Can't wait to unload my sealed copy.
I don't believe you are selling anything of your collection anytime soon haha.
but this is insane in the membrane on the price. And I don't think too many will surface because of this. This actually seems legitimately rare.

I guess I haven't played this but I don't understand why the original copy wouldn't work with a net link bought seperately. If you are in fact correct by saying the original copy does not work with a seperate net link adaptor, how does having the ability to play online matter if there are so few copies out there that they are going for this stupid price. You won't be playing anybody online because nobody will have the ability to do so. Either way it's a crazy price.

The original one doesn't have netlink capabilities. That's why it won't work via netlink. It's the same with Sega Rally and Virtual-On netlink versus non-netlink versions. Having a netlink capability doesn't matter. It's "stupid" price is due entirely to its rarity, not the novelty of playing it online.
