WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS MY FRIENDS!!! AND WE'LL KEEP ON FIGHTING TIL THE END!!!!! YES, WE FUCKING DID IT!!!!! I CRIED DURING HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH. WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN AT GRANT PARK, MY HOME TOWN!!!!!
Yes its true exit polls dont matter, but Obama is spanking Mccain in votes not just polls.
Its amazing when a 3% difference in votes is a spanking. Really shows that there is no agreement even when electoral votes are a landslide. Also was interesting to see what states flipped this time, showing there isn't really the "heartland" that was overused in 2004.
3% difference? I thought it was a 5% difference. And since 5% is like almost 6 million people I would also call it a spanking, also counting he also had 338 Electoral Collage votes compared to McCains 141. Overall the Democrats spanked the stupid Republicans!
I was just so happy to see NY was 4,309,102 for Obama and only 2,542,004 for McCain. I Love It!
If he turns out to be the miracle working centrist his infomercial would lead us to believe, I'll be very surprised. Of course that would be a great thing. But I don't do magical thinking. My impression is that a lot of people are going to be very shocked to learn what they've just voted for. I hope he grew out of his socialist leanings, and he was kidding about taxing 60% of our engery suppliers out of business. I really hope I'm wrong.
I stayed out of all this because neither candidate thrilled me. However I think too many people just wanted to be in on the bandwagon on this one. I for one am completely thrilled that I will now be guaranteed to be paying higher taxes going forward, wonder how much that is in lost NES games for my collection? I am excited by the voter tournout and the way people saw past color here. But man am I terrified of what's in store for us in years to come. I really hope I'm wrong too!
Hehe... yeah yeah Khan... but it won't be just me. There are alot of people here with disposable income buying video games which puts us above middle. Going forward that will be looked upon as a bad thing. And I just can't agree with that...
Well just think that perhaps your disposable income, those very few games your going to miss out on, are going to a childs education, or a childs stomach.

we are far better off than if McCain would of won. Unless your really really...really rich he would not of of helped you. and this higher tax stuff is bs. yes higher taxes overall, but overall lower or the same for the middle class. and im happy with that!
You know the thing that pisses me off more than anything is that our voting closed here at 8PM before voting was even closed here in Pacific Time Zone not to mention Hawaii and Alaska the election was already reported as over with Obama winning. Why did the millions of us even bother to vote... this system sucks! Results should be tallied and reported the next day, talk about disinfranchised voter!
and this higher tax stuff is bs. yes higher taxes overall, but overall lower or the same for the middle class. and im happy with that!
Or if you have a small business, where it will hit me. Around here I am definitely middle class but will have a large pay cut. Expect homebrew prices to go up around 15% to cover the extra taxes and tariffs in ~6 months Fortunately I think he is all talk and no action so taxes will remain the same for all. It is just impossible to pay for the programs he advocates without much more broad taxation.
Fox and CNN don't even seem to be reporting the same election. So it's way too early to say.

Yup, but I was very tempted to write in Ron Paul.
Green? I can understand voting independent, but wasn't the Green party candidate Cynthia McKinney? Did you guys not do your research on that scum bag? She was the congresswoman from my old district in Atlanta, and she is a disgrace to the human race.

Some of us work for rich people, or live under a rich landlord, or buy from the rich and like it or not, they often have the ability to pass the costs on. If you expect the rich people's taxes to leave the remaining 95% unaffected, you're fooling yourself.
Congrats to Obama. While I don't like the results, the people got what they want, democracy in action

Exactly Bryan. I wonder if there will be any try for tax increases before he allows the Bush tax cuts to run out in 2010? Maybe maybe not I don't know. But Allowing the Bush tax cuts to phase out, reinstituing the death tax, etc... those are not good things for us. Did you see where all the MLB players and agents are now already working on plans to get out of Obama's impending tax increases? The ultra rich will always figure out a way.
On a different note I wonder how long it will be before Israel and Iran go to war now? That's all we need nuclear missles being tossed around by both sides.
The concept of inheritance tax is so fucked up. Am I the only one that views it as WILDLY inappropriate that the government can directly benefit from your death? (add to that the fundamental truth that the money has already been taxed numerous times)

Well when the tax breaks went to the rich they didnt send the money down, thats why the trickle down failed. Giving the breaks to the poor and middle class, and putting more money into government programs is helping the poor. Rich people and corporations are going to horde their money either way, like what happens all the time in the oil industry. Even though they are making record profits, they wont let one cent slip out to the people. Thats why the economy is locked up. Economy is the movement of Goods, Services, and most importantly currency. Give the breaks to the pooor who have to spend money to survive, and the economy moves. Give the breaks to people who dont need it, and they will just sit on it. Companies that are making good business have still moved their projects overseas to make even better business. Something has to be done to stop greedy people. I know some will say, its redistributing the wealth, and people have the right to take showers in gold coins while their neighbors are dieing in the street. If this goes on forever though the rich will be affected too, just like what is happening now. We wont have any country left. The few greedy people with money left will leave still chanting.. "its my corporate emipire I have the right". The governemnt has a responsibility to the masses, not 1% of the population. Redistributing the wealth it may be, but it was all fine and dandy when richer and upper middle class were getting the break. Now that the people that need a break, the people that move the economy are getting the break, theres anger in the air.

It is a shame the people who work for their money sometimes be a lot of it, dont just hand the lazy people who wont work their money. Im sorry Im all for helping people out, that is the ones that try and make it. I have no sympthay for all the lazy welfare trash that are happy to sit at home and let the taxpayers support their worthless behinds. Its called if a man doesnt work a man shouldnt eat

If you're against hoarding how are tax increases going to help that? Tax cuts encourage entrepreneurs take risks and use their investments into the economy. The average business FAILS. You're less likely to take the risk when the potential reward is smaller.
The Bush tax cuts brought in more revenue during his terms than was brought in during the Clinton administration. We both want the best for all people but have different philosophies on how to get there. Tax increases right now will stifle an already struggling economy and net less revenue to the government IMO. Just because tax percentages are higher, doesn't mean more revenue will come in and if that's the case, it's not better for anyone. If you want to really see the rich hoard their money, raise their taxes a lot and you will see less investing in the economy and more hoarding
Well when the tax breaks went to the rich they didnt send the money down, thats why the trickle down failed.
And when stimulus checks were given to everyone they were just used to pay credit card bills, so it failed.

Oil companies underperformed their sectors profit margins. Basic materials sector was ~11% profit margin, biggest oil company was ~10%. Sure Exxon made $40B, but thats because they sold $400B of product. Higher demand worldwide, not higher supply, more money. To compare Microsoft sells about $60B and has ~30% profit margin. They get 3 times as much when you buy something from them. Exxon is HUGE compared to the worlds biggest software company, and makes less profit percentage. Profit margins of 20-40% are common on metals so oil has a long way up it could go.
Rich people spend their money on investments like startups. Something like 3/4 of restaurants fail, wanna guess who funds that? Google took in ~$10M in funding before they started. If it failed, all that rich people money disappears. Now that Google is rich they spend hundreds of millions on other startups from solar to biotech.

Everyone has to spend money to survive Rich people don't get free Taco Bell just because they are rich.

No, unskilled labor is moved, not skilled or technical work. If you want cheap products they will be designed here but build elsewhere. It isn't greed, it's business. Almost all big companies are public, so buy some stock so they pay you. If you bought Exxon stock you would have been getting ~15% roi.

How dare you use electricity and the Internet when there are children starving in Africa!
bleh all this talk about Republican Policy vs. Democratic Policy ... if you want real freedom vote 3rd party in 2012 ... and get your neighbor and your neighbor's neighbor to vote 3rd party instead .... WHY??? because it's like this .... The Republican Party is a party built on Free Business Enterprise and government contracts are typically slanted due to kick backs otherwise known as campaign contributions ... and the Democractic Party is a party built on Government Enterprise and mandated Government control funded by kick backs to support certain programs also known as campaign contributions ... whereas the 3rd Party is a government built on Freedom ... little government control + no real kick backs or campaign contributions (typically the reason why they receive so little recognition and air time) - but I digress the Party system is Like this from BEST to WORST Best is 3rd Party - they don't want your money and they promote civil liberties .... followed by Republican they don't want your money just your kick backs ... followed by Democratics they want your money and your kick backs ... gimme gimme but that's just one man's opinion (mine and everyone in this country has a right to his or her own opinion and that is what makes America so great.

I voted third party on everything except the big stuff. I went Dem for Senate, Prez, and congress (there was no third party option on that ballot) I figure in the short term, at least in my opinion, we need the democrats, but if those third party candidates can win something small like water reclamation administrator or even state senate, it's a big step for them and eventually in the long term, they can put up a candidate with a legitimate chance of winning for a major office.
Really quickly, I just want to say that I was very happy for Obama winning, but was I ever pissed to find out that the person who makes the decision to fill his senate seat is the governor. Rod Blagoveich, Illinois' governor, is a piece of crap.
"It is a shame the people who work for their money sometimes be a lot of it, dont just hand the lazy people who wont work their money. I dont know where you guys get this idea that people can just sit at home and collect welfare checks. You have to have a job to get welfare or they will cut you.. heck you have to have a job to even get foodstamps. If you are disabled, or a single mother then yes you can collect welfare, but thats completely diffrent and not being lazy.
"If you're against hoarding how are tax increases going to help that? Tax cuts encourage entrepreneurs take risks and use their investments into the economy. The average business FAILS. You're less likely to take the risk when the potential reward is smaller."
The average business isnt a wealthy major corporation I mentioned is it? O yes but I do see your point.. we should give the rich tax breaks so they can take risks. Yes taking risks is good for an unstable economy.
"And when stimulus checks were given to everyone they were just used to pay credit card bills, so it failed. "
The stimulus checks were a joke and a gimmick just like the useless idea of a gas tax holiday. A couple hundred dollars.. cmon what are you supposed to do with that? You cant even see the dentist, what a waste. A one time candy handout is not going to fix anything of course, im sure anyone can see that. We need a sustained system that will grow the people.
"Oil companies underperformed their sectors profit margins. Basic materials sector was ~11% profit margin, biggest oil company was ~10%. Profit margins are one of the many excuses of companies to look pretty. Of course said oil companies develop their own profit margins and can manage the numbers better then a car sales man.. they can make thier profit margins appear however they want, and even if they couldnt the situation is laughable. Its like saying it would be a better idea to tax a 5 year olds lemonade stand because theyre profit margin is huge, they are making making 90 cents on every dollar they recieve. Wooo all that adds up to 25$ a day.. but leave the poor oil companies alone because their profit margin is smaller, they are only making a few billion. Profit margins are irrelivent, if a company is making billions of dollars, it can afford to give a little back to stabilize the country its making a profit off of, instead of raping them for every penny they have.
Once again.. yes give the tax breaks to the rich, so they can gamble it away. Rich people also invest heavily in foriegn businesses.. and yea the money really does go away.
"Everyone has to spend money to survive Rich people don't get free Taco Bell just because they are rich."
Exactly my point. A rich person has a a billion dollars. He spends 99 cents on a taco at taco bell, and hes fed for the day roughly a billion dollars still sits stagnant in his purse. A billion dollars moves out to a million struggling people, and they buy a million tacos. Also when poor people get money, they tend to spend a little extra and treat themselves, because they dont know when theyll be able to enjoy themselves again. Rich people know they can have whatever they want whenever they want and tend to spend less on everyday things such a quick meal. My first job was in fast food. Poor people would come in with their families at the end of the week, and treat their children to kids meals, and have a big feast. We would constantly get women in escilades and fur coats pull to our drive thru, order one item on the 99 cent menu, then ask for a stack of napkins, alot of ketchup, a cup of water (no bottle please just a cup), a lemon, and a pack of suger. We would hand them the water, and they would proceed to make their own lemonade form scratch, even tho we sold lemonade on the menu. In my entire 4 years there, I never witnessed a wealthy person spend more then $4 on a meal. Mexican ditch diggers would order 10$ worth of food constantly.
Alright so the richest 1% of the people hold the majority of this countries wealth. Lets break it down real easy, and say there are 100 people in this country. 1 of them is rich, and the rest of them make 50k a year and have a family of 4 to take care of.
Scenerio A: Tax breaks are given to the one man. He like nice suits, and a Nice house, he buys nice things, and lives a nice life for himself. He gets a tax break, so hes able to throw a little bit more money around. He takes a chance on a business, and the business is succesful. He makes even more money for a short while. Hes rich tho, so his spending doesnt really increase.. every now and then he restocks a few suits. He has the car he wants, he has the life he wants, he roughly spends the same money every year, and tons of money just sits in his purse. The 99 other residents of the country have exactly the cash they need, they can only spend what they have they cant really buy some of the nice things they would like, they just work to live, and keep going everyday.. a few foolish people though want some things that are out of their means, they take out some loans and treat themselves, only to realize later they wont be able to pay the loans back. The rich mans business is starting to fail, no one has money to purchase items at his store anymore. The economy is starving, everything is frozen in one mans hands, with the economy frozen 50k becomes less money, and the people that were making it before are now forced to take out loans too.. The economy gets torn apart. The rish man is now debating wether or not to stay in the country, or move his business to a more profitable locaction, only further damaging the country.
Scenerio B: The one rich man get taxed more this year. He is still able to live and have nice things, hes not as rich as before but hes still way richer than anyone he knows, and isnt hurting. Money starts flowing on a continual bases (not a one time gimmick) to the 50k income people. They are able to start paying off their loans, and those that are working and need it get a little extra boost with basic necesities such as food. After years go by the loans are paid off, the 99 50k income people start going out into the market and buying the things they wanted again, and treating their familys. The economy finally stabilizes and the rich man is actaully making more money again, people can once again afford to make purchases at his business.
"No, unskilled labor is moved, not skilled or technical work. If you want cheap products they will be designed here but build elsewhere. It isn't greed, it's business. Almost all big companies are public, so buy some stock so they pay you. If you bought Exxon stock you would have been getting ~15% roi. "
Where do you get these silly ideas? Lots of businesses are moving their design teams to india and china because they are skilled, and cheaper. Yes it is infact greed, when a company is making major profits and they move overseas to make a few pennies more, and not care about laying off thousands of workers and damaging our economy. Reaching for profits at the expense of others is actually beyond greed. Sorry I will never hand my hard earned money directly over to a billionaire, if I need gas to get to work, then so be it, but im not gonna just write a check to a billionair and say here ya go, go ahead and do what you like, move overseas and lay everyone off im gonna profit 15% on those suckers wahoo!
"How dare you use electricity and the Internet when there are children starving in Africa!"
Ah yes, electricity, a good comparison to one showering themselves in gold. I would be overwhelmed with joy, if the government came out on the news tomaro and said they were going to dock my paycheck 1% for the next 5 years, and use the money to help Africa support its own agricultural needs. Sadly though alot of people would riot, and shout.. Hey I make 10 million dollars a year, but I work hard, how dare you steal from me!!!
Yes thats what im talking about mom and the father dont get married have several kids and sit at home and live off the tax payers. I know first hand a young girl that as soon as she turned 18 got pregnat so she wouldnt have to work
Yes thats what im talking about mom and the father dont get married have several kids and sit at home and live off the tax payers. I know first hand a young girl that as soon as she turned 18 got pregnat so she wouldnt have to work
Raising a child is a full time job, so even if she was doing that because she was lazy, im sure she soon found her folley. Married or not, you still have to list the income of anyone residing at your residence, the governemnt isnt going to hand out checks to pay for the rent of someone else. If you have jobless people at your residence, they will not put you on the system, untill they investigate it, in some cases they will put you on a temporary system untill the investigation is complete, this lasts a very short period of time, and you cannot be renewed untill you can bring proof of eligible status.

That's all we need nuclear missles being tossed around by both sides.
we are far better off than if McCain would of won. Unless your really really...really rich he would not of of helped you. and this higher tax stuff is bs. yes higher taxes overall, but overall lower or the same for the middle class. and im happy with that!

Everyone has to spend money to survive

mine and everyone in this country has a right to his or her own opinion and that is what makes America so great.
Indeed, but opinions are free. And you get what you pay for.
bleh all this talk about Republican Policy vs.
Profit margins of 20-40% are common on metals so oil has a long way up it could go."
I know first hand a young girl that as soon as she turned 18 got pregnat so she wouldnt have to work
single mother then yes you can collect welfare
