What is the gem of your collection?

  • No picture unless you want to look at the thread for them, but the Sharp NES TV in fantastic shape, with the 2 controllers and remote control for it. Beyond that I think the most expensive gem would be Bubble Bobble 2 or Bonk's Adventure for NES and in time they'll probably pass the television in value.

  •

Just a few of my personal faves:

  • I recently sold the gem of my collection.  It was a minty cart of MegaMan 5.

Now my favorite is probably my Cowboy Kid or my SNES CIB.

Why'd you sell your MM5? Do you have another copy? It's a great game!

  • Would probably be my (soon to be!) CIB Road to Glory 94. I'm also pretty happy I'm sitting on a Fun N'Games box + cart before it balloons like it's destined to price wise.
  • It's either my 90+ GC Pokemon Box or my Grey Majora's Mask NFR. Couldn't imagine letting go of either one.
  • My Zen for GB and sealed for NES (which I am just lazy to dig through downstairs) Just a favorite single player game from childhood

My parents have been struggling with medical bills so I pretty much have to sell my entire collection.  They bought me a lot of it anyway when I was a kid.  I had 2 copies of MM5.  Both already sold.  And I agree, it's one of my favorite NES games of all time.

  • This very handsome Rhino is currently the gem of my collection. Never seen another person with him.

Is that a plushie from the big box Rampage 64?

  • Nope, it's not from the big box. I believe around the same time that the big box variant with the keychain plushies were released, K-mart was running a promotion of their own, where if you bought a copy of the game, you would be given 1 of 3 plushies with your purchase, Boris, Ruby or Lizzie. They are not keychains though, and are about 6 inches tall.

    Keychain Plushies: Ralph, George, Curtis

Larger Non-Keychain Plushies: Ruby, Lizzie, Boris

I guess it was a ploy to get people to try and collect them all.
  • I've shared this in a similar thread but I love this piece! I'm meeting Stan Lee for a signing soon so that may take the cake, but for now:

  • I may have a new gem soon, copy of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes signed by David Hayter and Jennifer Hale, pending on if my buddy get's the chance to get to them at the Vancouver Fan Expo convention. I unfortunately can't go.
  • Nice collection among the member(s) ...
  • maybe not my most valuable, but DEF my fav/most cherished, is my Earthbound CIB
  • Ark, those Tyson pics are ridiculous! Did you get that done in person?
  • It's a toss up - Snow Brothers (Since graded 80+)

Or maybe my Castlevania Litho signed by IGA

Possibly my Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill proto (No pics)
  • thanks, yeah met him at a signing in CA. He's usually only in Vegas but made it out to the Bay Area. I'm trying to put together a signed cib collection, slowly but surely.
  • This:

It has shrinkwrap and given the quality of the game itself, a CD case and a sketchy bag looks like the legit retail packaging to me. Let's see what VGA says about that.
  • Hmmmm this is a tough one since I have some items that are very unique/one of a kind but are not incredibly valuable while I have others that are far less rare but fetch high prices in the collectors market. As far as NES goes it would be my minty CIB little Samson, but as far as the overall gem of my collection I would probably have to go with my midnight blue 10 million edition playstation console with controler ( one of only 100 NTSC US consoles made). If only I had the box for it...

  • Collecting for so long, I have many.

I think a "gem" should have artistic value, so it is my copy of "Halo Reach Legendary Edition" which I got new from Gamestop at a closeout price of $30...

    (Stock pic)

  • I love to brag to people that I have both Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. in their own carts, not the dual cart NES pack-in.
  • I don't own any super valuable games but i always saw DK Jr Math on those posters when i was a kid and never saw one in real life but i finally got my own copy of the game in a lot of carts at a nice price, i paid more for the manual than i did for the cart but it has a special place in my collection because of the mystery it held when i was young

WOW!!! This is a true gem, maybe the rarest Snes PAL game, congrats!!

Really? Always wondered what the rarest PAL game was.

  • That PAL box art is awesome for the Harvest Moon too!
  • Game-wise: Mortal Kombat 3 [SNES] Sealed signed by both Daniel and Carlos Pesina (original mocap actors)

Mario-Collection: Not too sure. I guess it would be the Mario Paint display sign I got recently.

The UK version of Harvest Moon is really hard to find, totally i have seen 5 or 6 copies and i'm collecting PAL snes games for about 5 years. It looks like German or French version but box, manual and cartridge have many differences. I have never seen one at ebay too....

After collecting SNES for so long wouldn't you say that Whirlo CIB is the rarest PAL SNES title?

Anyways I don't have any gems aside from my N-Gage rares
