Mistake #1: You try to understand GameStop.

  • They threw out the guides? What are they idiots? I know the stores are smaller than one bedroom apartments but COME ON. Ridiculous business sense here.

I agree, they could at least do a huge discount on them instead of throwing it away. Some money is better than NO money. Working at a gamestore, I know for a fact that guides are really hard to sell... but geez.

Oh well, that's Gamestop for ya. I guess that means free stuff for dumpster divers!

  • skip to 5:30 in this video to see how many guides GameStop throws away at times...

The guides are supposed to be destroyed (i.e. cover ripped off/guide ripped in half) after a certain period (which varies from game to game), at which point the number of trashed guides is reported to the publisher and the retailer receivers some sort of credit. SOP at all major retailers, as far as I know, with Gamestop and Best Buy being the best source of the guides (or at least they were 3-4 years ago when I was scouring the dumpsters of southern California for free guides).

Oh okay, pretty much how some places used to do to magazines then. Interesting.

  • If anyone's interested in any of them, I'll let them go for cheap. Good condition for AoT and Star Trek, MGR is sealed and in very condition from what I can tell. Not looking for much, just to help me support my new hobby >_> lol
  • Doesn't GameStop also throw away the cases to DS games sometimes and just try to sell the game or am I thinking of someplace else?

    Good finds.
  • Limited Penis Edition? Must be a typo...

Yes. There was a bunch of DS cases in the dumpster with no games, but essentially useless to me.

Yup, I bought a copy of Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier there cart only the other day for $20 (nearly a $100 game complete) and they specifically told me they had thrown the case and manual in the garbage.
