  • I just purchased the "Collectors series" set of 50 for like $25. Is that a decent price?

Also, for the regular set, I need the following:

    63 - Marble Madness

    68 - Star Fox

    154 - Contra 3

I have all of the variants. So if anyone has those 3 in decent condition, please let me know. I'm so close!
  • I found the Contra one, so now I'm down to just Marble Madness and Star Fox.

I know Star Fox can be found in issue 55 a lot. Does anyone know where #63- Marble Madness can be found?

    Help!
  • And one final item (if anyone is even reading this), does any know the other sets Nintendo Power released. I saw in this thread and just by looking around:

    DK Country

    DK Country 2

    Street Fighter Alpha 2

    Star Fox

    Virtual Boy

    Mega Man X2

    Mortal Kombat 3

    Super Mario RPG

    Super Mario World 2

    Mario Kart 64

Am I missing any? Does anyone know what makes a complete set for each?

I've just finished my entire set as well and have a ton of extras. If you want, feel free to PM me.

When I was a kid and bought the collectors set, I was annoyed that it didnt have all 72, and I wrote to Nintendo to ask if they planned to make the other 22 in collectors form.  Their response was "no."

  • Does anyone know how many cards were in the Virtual Boy set? I have 6, but don't know if that's accurate. Also, I'm looking to complete my Nintendo Power Trading Card Set and am looking to trade with other folks. I have over 60 duplicates and a missing about the same. Here are the ones I'm missing, please send me a note if you would like to trade:

Nope, you covered them all.  I subbed to NP during the entire run of the cards.  First they stopped doing the Super Power Club Trading cards, but they still had "cards" in the back.  These are all of them.  If you haven't already, you can see the entire set in my gallery.

  • Awesome. Thank you. I still need teh Super Mario RPG and the Mario Kart 64.

  • My fellow collectors:

I know the pain you have all been through trying ever so hard to complete your sets.  Particularly in finding card 44 without operation booby trap.  But I have some news that I'm sure will be met with a wide range of emotions.  An extremely small few might be excited, I hope.  Some of you will be mad, some will just shake your head.  Some of you I'm sure will want to curse me out (please don’t, it won’t accomplish anything).  In November of 2013, the eBay user onett_gaming listed an auction for some cards with a variation in card 120, Mega Man 4.  He listed it as an error, but I knew better.  I immediately went to my collection and my extras and discovered that I too had this card, confirming that it was not just an error, it was a 5th variation.  Based on this, I got to thinking:  I wonder how many other variations there are like this?  I grabbed my “complete” set and my extras and started going over the backs of each card with a fine-tooth-comb.  The news, depending on how you feel about what follows, was not good.  In addition to the four major variations, I found forty more variations,  plus onett_gaming’s find.  Most are extremely minor compared to the first four.  Some are flat out ridiculous and if you could reach through your computer to slap me I would welcome it.

Some of you I hope for sanity’s sake will not kill yourself in trying to find these variations.  But here is a picture of all of them with differences highlighted.  These are not photo-shopped to try to make you find additional cards that dont exist.  The only added art is the red highlighting of the variations.

I get a slap for this one.  One space indented.

Another slap to me, slight indent.

    added 12-18-13

Card #11.  This is probably the most deserving slap of all, I cant believe I even found this one.  Its seriously about half a space.  I almost didnt include it.

    Three code, four code.

    Interesting "oops"

    Card #18

    Slightly larger indent.

    added 12-18-13

Dash, no dash.  Pretty minor.  BAD INTERN, NO DONUT!!

    Found this one 3-19-14

    Found this one 3-19-14

Yep, even amoung the operation booby trap cards, theres a variation.  So that means 3 of #44.  Also one of three with variations on the copyright line.

    Found this one 3-19-14

    added 12-18-13 Short copyright

    Found this one 3-19-14

Credit to onett_gaming for this one.  Thanks for opening Pandors box.  Also notice what it did to the system and game type, ect. lines.

#127, sorry my scanner chopped the top.

I had to stack these in order to get a good picture uploaded.

This one is easiest to describe.  Look at the last word on each sentance of the description.

to levels is donkey you monkey

to levels the donkey try monkey

to levels is donkey try monkey

Third one with variation on copyright line.

    Found this one 3-19-14

Im sure there are others as this took me four times through my set to find all these.  I sincerly hope not though.

I do still have a few extras of some of these variations and need a few myself.  Hopefully I can do some  trades for other cards to anyone interested.  If you choose to “re-complete” your sets, best of luck to you.  Here are my extras.  The description will make sense when referenced to the above pictures:

    1 - Non indented

    5 - Under R

    6 - adven-

    9 - non "seg-" version

    11 - B indented

    12 - 4 password version

    15 - Players Missing

    18 - Monsters one word

    20 - Both

    21 - Both

    22 - Kidnapped one word

    24 - Both

    26 - Challenge under S

    27 - Both

    28 - boxers one word

    30 - No dash

    31 - Both

    32 - Both

    34 - Original one word

    36 - Adventure one word

    38 - Non Hyphen

    44 - Long Copy right

    60 - Bosses first line

    71 - Both

    72 - Higher

    75 - Will

    96 - Non indented

    112 - score

    119 - Score

    120 - Non error

125 - San on top line

134 - to levels is donkey you monkey

Please note I may only have one of these, so its first come first serve.  People might also buy them from me on eBay.  I will try to update at least once a week to avoid unnecessary e-mails.

And here are the ones I still need (some not variations, replacing torn or damaged cards):

    154

153 - Super NES not indented

    142

134 - to levels is donkey try monkey & to levels the donkey try monkey

    127 - "that" second line

125 - "San Marino" same line

    95 - short copyright

    75 - "happiness" second line

    62

    60 - 1st line end "following"

    44 - Short Copy Right

    38 - lev-, with-

    36 - adven-

    28 - Box-

    26 - challenge under U

    9 - Seg-

    5 - challenges indented under o

    1 – indented

All eight Mario Kart 64 cards

Donkey Kong country RockKrocs, Master Necky, King K Rool, and Manky Kong

I also found two other errors on cards, but could not find a card with it correct.  #83 Wordtris - the difficulty of the challenges is backwards (expert with novice, novice with pro).  #97  King of the Ring - The card is red, but the system listed is Game Boy.  This game was released on both NES and Game Boy so its hard to say what the correct card would have read/been.
  • Want to buy or trade for my missing cards. Anyone have any left?
  • Still looking to find the last cards I need. Anyone have any?

    WTB 15 Missing Nintendo Power Trading Cards: 48, 62, 142, 143, 144, 145, 150, 151, 154, 164, 165, 166, 167, 169, 170 I have many Dupes; FS/FT.

I was about to reach through my computer and slap you silly, when I recognized your name and remembered that you were the guy who traded some cards with me at the end of 2012 (through ebay), so I'll forgive you just this time.

I'm not going to worry so much about the multitudes of variations at the moment. If I had to choose, I would pick the one with the least errors (text-wrapping instead of hyphens, proper indenting, etc.) although defining what that is could be subjective. I also consider the Gold Foil cards to be the "final" card so it would trump any variation of the preforated cards.

I'm updating my list for the ones I still need (just 3 left!) and a few I'd like to replace due to damage/bad cutting.

    • #63 Marble Madness (apparently this one is kinda rare; several others here need it too)

    • #85 Legend of Zelda (looking for replacement)

    • #139 Winter Extreme Skiing and Snowboarding

    • #141 Clay Fighter 2 (looking for replacement)

    • #161 Yoshi

    • #169 Lion King (looking for replacement)
Now here's a list of all the extras I have. (Number of dupes if any are in parenthesis.) [Variations according to coldpyro's finds will be in brackets]

If the only copies of a card I have are damaged, I'll note that next to the card:

    • #1 (melted rubber band damage)

    • #2 (x2)

    • #3 (x3)

    • #4 (x7)

    • #6 (x2) [both variations]

I'm getting to the point that I'd like to start selling off my extra dupes. I'll also consider selling the cardback variations of the ones I think are "incorrect" (which I'll let you know if you ask.)

If you have any of the 6 I'm looking for, shoot me a line and let me know what you're interested in and we can work something out.

  • Hi there I'm interested in picking up #48 and #150. I will get home soon and check out what I have for you soon.
  • Oh thank you! Finally a little info on these things! I've been having a hell of a time finding anything on the cards.
  • OHHHH MYYYY GODDDD!!!!!

I have 3 sets of these cards. One of them cosists of them still in the pages of the Magazines. A couple 100 loose cards. 4 more Nintendo Power magazine sets from 1 to 100+ and appx. 500 more NP magazines piled up in boxes.

Need to drop what I'm doing right now and let you know what I come up with.

Another thing to note in trying to complete this set is... the higher the card numbers the fewer there are. Shhh... there could be some money to be made in hoarding these things. Vintage Baseball cards are the same way. You never know.
  • I saw someone selling some of the back variations on ebay.

Honestly, I'm just going to stick with the 4 major variations and call it a day. I'm not going to try to find every variation on the back.

I am looking to replace my Marble Madness. When I was removing it, I tore the corner. That one is pretty hard to find though.

Outside of that, I have all of the cards, the 4 major variations, the gold cards, and also the 10 additional sets that I have listed above. I'm going to be happy with that and not worry about the minor back vairants.

  • Still looking for a few:

  • I had forgotten about this...years ago I figured this out also..shit. I keep those inside the mag, anyways, BUT still...
  • hello, I'm starting my collection. I have about half so far. I only see a few ebay listings. Any of you have lots of duplicates that you want to get rid of to a worthy cause?

    Let me know, thanks!

  • Finally got my last card! Marble Madness replacement. So my collection, with the 4 major variants, is complete.

Now, the only two items I need for my non-game NES collection that I want to complete is a dog bone controller for the top loading NES and the Super Macho Man Punch Out trophy in a box.
  • I just started going for a full set, so thanks so much for having this information available!
  •  trying to finish my set of super power club cards im looking for 18 mon-,28 box-, 36 adven-, 37 it in, 44 Operation Booby Trap 1992 variation short copyright, and earthbound pogs.
  • Anyone else just keep them in the original magazines they came in? I like to keep everything original to what it was back when...which is hard since kids just loved to fuck up those magazines -_-
