fsped09's Finds
Been a while since I've posted in FK, so long, that we used to be able to have more than "One Active Thread Per Member." Since that is the case I consolidated all my old threads into this one. Its nice to have a "running" list all in one place to keep track of everything. Anyway, this recent score was off of Craigslist. I paid $25 for this still slightly sealed dual NES controller box.

Its not in the best of shape, but I was happy to pay the $25. The guy said he bought these in case his ever broke, but they never did, so these just sat around. As you can see on the right side its still slightly sealed, so I have no doubt everything inside is nice and minty. A nice addition to my accessories collection.

All this for $50. This was a new place for me in CT. Spoke with the owner for a bit, and ran into a NA member! (nyi44) Good day for me. Thiose NES controllers with the overlays were 8 each, but I never come across the one with the overlays before so I grabbed them.

Another friend, another parent selling their house, another attic. All freebies!
![]() ![]() He had the stuff above, but was missing the power pad and other misc items.
|
![]() I was able to fill the gaps quite easily.
|
![]() I even had the missing piece of the puzzle!! I had purchased this for cheap at a tag sale a few months earlier.
|
![]() COMPLETE IN BOX!!
|
So for this, I climbed the attic ladder, his parents were up there going thru everything. As my head poked through the entrace to the attic, this was right in my face.

Everything was in great shape, but the "handles" were missing. He said they never used it because they didn't have a game for it. But they used the handles for pretend games, lol. The box cleaned up very nicely with a damp cloth for the dust.
A few other ends and ends that came home with me.

Got up earlier than usual for this tag sale that was posted on CL.

I paid 120 for everything and it was a little more than I wanted to pay, but overall I'm happy with everything. The Super Joy Controller and 76000 in 1 pirate cart was only a buck since he didn't know if it works, (it does). The 4 CIBs are nice and minty and the AVE Krazy Kreatures is in the best shape. Dragon Warrior is only missing the box. And I grabbed the Tengen and AVE loose games cause I wanted the sleeves. The TG-16 games I found at the bottom of the box and he only wanted a $1 each. I was happy to find the Rad Racer variant manual and the guy threw in the Gameboy case for free.

Went into my local gamestop and the girl behind the counter said that she knew I was a big Superman fan
and she set this aside for me. I didn't even buy anything... (the Zelda cart is there for scale)

So my buddy who sits next to me at work is very up to speed with my Nintendo obsession. Last week he tells me that he and his brother were going through the attic at his parents house and he found a NES box that I could have. He said his Dad put this in the attic in a plastic bag back in '85 and its sat there ever since. We were both off on odd days so he didn't bring it in until today. Well it was worth the wait. Check it out. Totally FREE. The third NES Console box I've gotten for free in less than a month. (See below)
So here we go. I have a Control Deck (No SMB) and a Deluxe Box so this is a nice addition.

When I opened the styro-foam, I was pleasantly surprised.

All four of the boxes were cherry, but these two I was really happy about. I didn't have Slalom and my current SMB was in rough shape.

So now I have 2 baseballs. One has the hang tab and this one doesn't.

I think I have a bunch of these ROB poster, but this large one is the only in my collection, same with the Seal Paperwork.

Got these at a local game shop. The manger said they were throwing them out and I could have them if I wanted. Got two of them free of charge. Gonna keep one, not sure about the other (it sold). I took the stickers and display hooks off with a heat gun.

I wouldn't believe this if it didn't happen to me. Last week I was driving home from work, I took the same route as I always take. I live in a fairly rural area. Anyway, so I am driving along and on the side of the road on the grass I see a large Nintendo Deluxe Set box. At first I wasn't going to pull over, as I had already gone past it and there were cars behind me, but then 30 feet down the road I see a Nintendo Control Deck Box! So I had to pull over. I pulled over, back up a little, picked up both boxes and threw them in my trunk. The Control Deck box was light, but the Deluxe was sort of heavier. So as I'm driving home, my heart if racing with excitement, but I'm thinking, that Deluxe Box has to be filled with dirty diapers or something gross that would cause someone to throw these out their window, Mrs. fsped09 thinks thinks they fell off someones truck, not sure if I agree with that. Anyway, when I get home, before bringing them into my house I take a peek. Both of the boxes were dusty but not dirty. The Control Deck box is really in great shape and the styrofoam is completely intact and also in good shape. Then I move over to the Deluxe Box, not in as great of shape as the control deck, but decent in my opinion, styrofoam seemed to be okay too. I cautiously open the box, look inside, and who's looking back at me? R.O.B. The Robot!! I ended up bringing them inside and cleaning them up. Literally finders keepers! Take a look!

These were in ROB and surprisingly not one of the 4 batteries exploded. Rob was in great shape!

An incomplete R.O.B. set, but a FREE set nonetheless! Missing is the Gyrospinner, 2 gyros, and the left and right "hands."

My two beauties, sitting on the side of the road! I had extra of everything to complete the control deck set, so that's complete set. Now I'm slowly working on filling in the holes on the Deluxe set. Pretty cool for a "find" huh?

This is how I found them:

First I met a guy from Craigslist who was selling a LoZ CIB for $10

The box is beat up, as is the instructions and map, but the cart was minty. Also, turns out this is the Canadian version (?)
Next on my stop was the flea market. Been here dozens of times but never for NES games.
Scored:
Gilligan's Island
Gyromite x3
Quattro Adventure
Volleyball
Klax
Wrecking Crew
Burgertime
Snowboard Kids 2
N64 Rumble Pak
All for $55

I know what you're thinking, WHY THREE Gyromites?? Well, the weights and colors were right... and so was I. FAMICOM adaptors! I handpicked these 3 out of 8 Gyromites.

So all in all, not bad for $65 total, maybe a little pricey but I looked up Snowboard Kids 2 and it goes for about $25, and I got it for $10. And the famicom adapters are also selling for close to that price too, so not bad IMO. I already have a rumble pak but I need a battery cover. The guy sold me that for $4. Still need a battery cover though....

I had a good day yesterday!
First the Craigslist..... all for $10.
Ducktales
TMNT II: Arcade
Tetris
Rambo
George Foreman's KO Boxing
RBI Baseball 3
Robin Hood: PoT
Hogans Alley
Defender II
Marble Madness
Super Sprint
Mega Man 6
TMNT

Then I was passing by this consignment shop that just opened. My first time in there they had nothing, but I figured I'd give them another shot.
All of this for $22
DK Bongos - $2
Sega Dreamcast w/ 1 controller and hookups $10
There was a game in the Dreamcast - GENERATOR Vol1 (Not for Resale) Not sure the value.
5 NES games @ $2 each - $10

When I opened Gyromite to clean it there was a pleasant surprise inside.

Star Force cleaned up nicely too.

So $32 on the day for all above. Not too bad! I think I made my money back on Megaman 6, RBI 3, and Ducktales alone.

So I contacted this person off CL, the page read, 12 NES games for $30 Zelda included. . I try to aim for $2 a game so I offered $25 and the woman said sure. I picked them up in the afternoon and she asked if I wanted the "unit" too. I told her I didn't want to spend any more money and she said I could have it for free. Heres the pic, sorry for the crappy photo, but you guys get the idea.

NES w/ cables

Zapper
SMB/DH/WCTM
SMB 2
SMB 3

Everything has been cleaned and tested and all is well.

Went by goodwill today probably my 3rd or 4th time in this shop. Saw this in a glass cabinet. I asked the girl to see it. It was marked at $14.99, I didn't even say anything and she goes you can have it for $10. Its factory sealed with the h-seam. I probably wouldn't have bought it if it was opened, but sealed seemed good to me.

Awesome story, glad it happened to a collector and not just some average hump!

I know, again if it didn't happen to me, I wouldn't believe it. You can't really tell from the pics, but each box has a corner that got beat up. I'm assuming on "impact" It was an odd day and I just found NA. When I saw these I thought, that can't be right. The road they were on was sort of a highway and then it started raining. An awesome find and a fun story.
