What was the business the games were at? A game store? This is hard to understand and we need more info. If it was a reseller most of that stuff would have been gone.
This was from a guy who said he collected everything. We still dont know why he had what he had. One reason we though of is that he may have been about to claim bankruptcy and have all of his assets seized......Just sold it all quickly and grabbed the cash. We go back and forth with 4 or 5 different reasons but I dont think we will ever know.
Whatever the reason I think you have a solid guess there. Also if the guy is going into a divorce he could have a real treasure of a soon to be ex who feels entitled to personal property of his as well from either during and/or before the marriage and it would be easier on his terms to dump the stuff and funnel the money elsewhere especially if you paid in cash. With that dough he could just quit and use it on something nice later, or once the bimbo is gone he could buy up much of the goodies he had before with some time and effort indirectly protecting his assets. I've seen cases of people doing that though usually not gaming related, it is some form of clearly 'mans' collectable a woman is just going after to be vindictive, cheap and petty to get even.
Spectacular find. I'm also curious to the amount paid. Was it more or less than a CIB Stadium Events? Was it more or less than a sealed Stadium Events?
Meh, one of the Hagane's has a pretty jacked up box... but yeah the other 2 are pretty nice, and if the manuals are solid will make a pretty penny back.
All that modern stuff actually going to be re-sellable I wonder...?
Well, it's not bankruptcy or either a person who didn't quite understand bankruptcy laws. (I'm assuming Canadian and US laws do not differ on the big basics, but I could be wrong). If he were in the US and sold all his stuff to hide from a Trustee in bankruptcy, he would have to disclose that he transferred property within 90 days of the filing and the Trustee could undo the entire sale and take the items back from you (assuming he identified you).
If it is indeed bankruptcy, you probably got a guy who is willing to tempt fate with perjury charges, not disclose the cash and hide it under his mattress. Hopefully, his attorney gets wind of it and can get out of the case and disclose to the court. Again, that is the US law; I'm not familiar with Canadian law.
